Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

In regards to the port-in/port-out method below,

1.
Can you get in on another year free if you use the SSN of a family member that was on the original year's BYOD free plan as a non-primary member? Basically I'm saying that I used my SSN as the primary account holder, but then this time would be using my wife's SSN. I did provide them with her SSN for her line that I added on the first year. Will this work? Any experience?

2.
I currently don't have internet service, so once I cancel sprint BYOD I'll have no cell and no internet. Basically dead in the water in terms of reaching out to the world. And no immediate relatives or friends nearby that I could borrow service from. What are some good free/super cheap plans that will cover me in the 24-72 hours after I cancel that sprint plan? Cellnuvo/Purecall? I don't want to spring $30 for a month on Mint Mobile or anything like that when I just need enough juice for a call or two to get me back on the Sprint free bandwagon.

try your local library. My library loans out a hot-spot for free for 2 weeks. It was a tmobile hot spot and i got 8+MBPS.

You can order one online too with free shipping if you can't find a corporate Sprint store.
so does this sim work in all phones? Looks like it's one sim? I see it says universal but that's for size?

It has 4 sims in it that cover all phones.

(They actually ship the newer 4 in one kit even though the text still says 3 in one).

Port's usually done within 15 mins if you gave correct account info (process is automated) but you'll want to stay on TMo 2-3 hrs just to let the port fully settle on the backend -- if you rush porting again then you risk your number getting stuck in limbo b/w the two carriers

I know I have correct port out info so I prefer to port out late evening when I know I'll be home for the rest of the night -- I'll let the number sit overnight on TMo then port back to a new Sprint account early morning

If you want to do it during the day then stay on TMo for 2-3 hrs after original Sprint service cuts off (number should also be gone from online Sprint account) -- that way you know the number was ported and you're giving it few hrs to settle before porting again
Thanks for the advice and repped.

I just tried to activate a Consumer Cellular Moto E4 Plus (XT1775) with an un-blacklisted IMEI to the promotion and they couldn't connect to it. The SIM is straight from Sprint.

The list provided here and the BYOD one on their website says it's compatible.

Anyone else have similar problems?

Thanks! That works even better than hunting down stores. I actually went into one the other day. I only had a few minutes, but they were busy. Not sure why they don't have a separate staff to handle non-activation or non-repair questions like someone that just wants to buy a new case.
I've been to many Verizon and AT&T stores as well as Sprint stores, none employ a person to just sell cases or answer questions.

so i have a question that has probably been asked already, so i apoogize. we have an exchange student for 1 year. her current phone number of course won't work to port in because it's international. her phone won't work because it's GSM.

we can't add a line to our existing $15 plan we don't have a number to port in for that new line. (which is very tricky on their part - they told us on at least 2 occasions that we could "ADD a line" at any time. to me that is not the same as "switch over another line". vent over.

Anyways, what's the best and cheapest way to get a US phone number to port in for this deal? do the ebay / pre-activated tmobile $3 thing , or google voice for $3? or do i need to get a prepaid/ mVNO for about $15 and port that? any advice is greatly appreciated!!!!

Not sure for SSN. I did all lines on one SSN, so it was easy for me. Chat with them and let us all know through wiki.

See step 9 - I withheld one line for keeping one line to be done later, so I was never out of working phone.

All your answers are in the wiki. Have you read the Weeki? Everything is there. You don't read the whole thread but at least you can read the wiki

We like people to read the Wiki since a lot of hard work by Desi and hodaddy and others goes into editing it.

See the second main item in the Wiki which is at post 3 in this thread.

Personally I would search "number for port" on Ebay and buy a number from Portmaster708 who offers 30 minute delivery until 9 pm ET.. But PLEASE read the Wiki and there are some cheaper options there if you want to save the last dollar..

You should have no problem as noted by Deshi.

Call the number ending in 8777 and they will set it up.

I myself would suggest get it from the horse's mouth rather than other sources - the people who can actually set up the plan - the number ending in 8777. Chat is wrong so often in my opinion.....but I suppose this is a straightforward question.

Does anyone know how to force data roaming onto Tmobile (Android)?
Sprint shouldn't care as it will not cost them anything since the unlimited roaming agreement/ pre-merger.
Sprint data fluctuates wildly for me even in the same location and over short intervals.
TMobile speeds have been higher and more consistent so would prefer vs native Sprint.
I would prefer not to "Magic Box" if I can help it.

It depends on the phone.
It is a manufacturer setting (dialer codes).
You can do it on Samsung and Moto devices and some others.

It works.

I often disable band 26.

Some people disable band 41.

It depends what band is giving problems.

Thanks for the reply.
I was familiar with the Samsung (all the Samsung models I have are strictly mvno not Mothership) not the Moto family (same situation have many Moto's- all mvno none Mothership). I was hoping there would be some generic Android workaround(s) but XDA and Google have not been helpful.
I have Nexus 6, Essential Phone and iPhone on Sprint I assumed iPhone was locked down as usual but both the Nexus 6 and the Essential Phone are rooted so was hopeful....
