Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Why do you say that?

shows India as included.

High speed data is modestly more.

But calls are expensive so may be better to get a local sim or a second phone with a local sim..
May bad..good to know

I've got a Sprint 1 year free plan and want to add a line from a phone number on Google Fi. Can I port out directly to the Sprint free plan or do I have to port over to T-mobile pre-paid first?
First you will have to port THE NUMBER to another carrier as per the Wiki (see it for details).

Then, if you want to use the same phone that was on Fi, you will find the IMEI will STILL fail because Fi has marked it MVNO/Fi use only in the Sprint database.

So AFTER you port out the number, you will ALSO have to contact Fi and get them to flip that flag to allow the phone to go on Sprint postpaid.. Then the phone will be eligible.

If I port out from Google Fi to Google Voice then to T-Mobile Prepaid, do I still need to contact Fi to get the flag flipped?

Yes.

I mean try first by all means, but I am just saying do not be surprised when it is still rejected with a cryptic error which may includes the words "you owe Sprint."

Not with an old "4g sprint sim card."
You need the right one for that phone. The correct one has a part number ending in 416Q.
See the Wiki for how to get it,

I haven't had time to follow this thread but wanted to give update on my MotoG6 play that I've had on Sprint. I've had issues with the phone ringing and went to the threads on issues with that phone. I've been missing calls from the beginning and you can be sitting with the phone in your hand and all of a sudden you get a voicemail message. The call never came through. I've gone through tech support and they think they get it cleared and it's not. Well spent most of the day on phone with Sprint and this is a very common challenge with the tower. They had me set the phone to CDMA which will only bring in 3g but at least the calls seem to be coming in. Funny the specialist called me again today and asked if I'm receiving my calls and I'm like--well how do I know---if the phone doesn't ring and the person doesn't leave a message--you have no indicators that there was a phone call---Sprint has no record of a phone call coming in either--so it either rings or goes directly to voicemail and if they don't leave a message it's like the call never came in. They said they had a group of engineers working on this issue. So if they have a group of engineers working on it and they haven't fixed it--I'm thinking this is more then an isolated case on my tower. This is probably nationwide or at least where there is LTE. One of the techs said that it has to do with the LTE and then switching to G3. The gal said just be patient they are working on it. The only work around for me is to use my google number and have that on a few other phones also. Challenge is the Sprint phone was my previous home phone number and I didn't change contact information with everyone. Not sure what effect this has on Wifi call setting but that wasn't working that well for me either. Just a heads up if it hasn't been covered in here. If you start getting voicemail and no phone ringing then your probably missing other calls too. I live in Ft. Worth/Dallas area so not out on the boonies.

That bypass - setting to 3G - and the nature of the problem - phone missing data signal to switch the radio to 3G to answer a call - has existed for years. I have posted the same analysis to you I believe and others from the start.

I had the same bypass - setting to 3G - years ago for people on RingPlus and it worked great then too for people missing calls (except people do not want to leave the phone set to 3G obviously)..

Sprint (at the REAL engineering levels) knows perfectly well what the problem is. It could be exacerbated in that particular phone which may take too long when switching bands or go into sleep mode or have other timing bugs.

It only occurs when you have a weak flickering LTE signal and so never affects people in strong signal areas. It is sort of a limitation of the design of having a radio that has to be told to switch to CDMA to answer calls.

It will be fixed by VoLTE because the phone will not have to switch bands and modulation any more to answer a call.

I expect Moto G6 Play should probably get VoLTE fairly soon in areas where it is supported.

Thanks--I think I was directed to the challenges with the MotoG6 play not ringing--which is a known issue and I wasn't sure if it was Sprint or the phone--now looking like more of a Sprint challenge. I'm sure you mentioned both and I know I had a major challenge getting any type of signal in house. Hopefully they are working on it but not sure why it's taking this long to get it fixed. Guess there is a reason they are giving away free service. Would love to sign up for another year but not sure it's worth the hassle if phone calls won't come through. I do have a red pocket sim card that's working so I can try that in one of the phones. Hopefully they are all unlocked and Sprint didn't re-lock them.

Wow you sure explained it better then Sprint. Thanks! So basically I have to wait for software update for the MotoG6 play? or hope for a stronger signal from the tower? So hard to believe they would have such a weak signal in our area.

There is likely another fix.

Try disabling whatever is the weak band that is behaving intermittently.

Odds are it is band 41.

Probably the phone is reaching too hard to use band 41 to try for absolute maximum speed. Other more conservative phones may avoid band 41 when the signal is weak. Moto tends to be too aggressive in band section in my experience.

Bands 26 and 25 will likely be fine and not have that problem.

See this post for how to do it. https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=124186225&postcount=33272
and also
https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=124427635&postcount=33785

I bet this will fix the problem. You will have to experiment to see which bands are solid. I would not necessarily turn off both 41 and 25 right from the start.

Also make sure you have roaming enabled. This will give you access to the TMB bands as well. (Roaming on TMobile is free and unlimited). If you have good TMobile coverage, you could turn off both 41 and 25. Band 26 is seldom a problem so you could leave it on.

All love making friends, take a break or take some time off to wait for that Viagra to work its magic and get a free pizza here (thanks andrewmackoul).

Some people reported getting multiple pizzas at other forums by clearing data/cache and/or reinstalling the app. I tried this on Android and iOS, and couldn't get it to work. If you get it to work, please share your secret sauce or any free beer offer that you came across Big Grin

Go get your free pizza and make more love!

How do you find out that a non-Sprint unlocked phone is re-locked when added to the Sprint BYOD plan?
Depending on the phone brand and model:
Generally, go to Settings --> System --> System Update and find UICC Unlock, tap it and the phone will check for lock or unlock and you'll get a message if the phone can use any UICC (Sim that is), Universal Integrated Circuit Card.

Depending on the phone brand and model the settings menu may have a line titled UICC Unlock or it may have another name,

Another way to check is to get another provider's Sim Card insert it in the phone and see if it works or you get an Invalid Sim message.

If the phone can accept sims from multiple systems, GSM, CDMA, you can buy an AT&T prepaid card for 99 cents online from AT&T and test it.
This prepaid card comes with a tel. # and can be used for porting in or out of Sprint for OBVIOUS purposes.
