Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

So just double checking, the best Note 9 version to ensure roaming on Tmobile when the Sprint network is crap is to get an actual Tmobile version and have it unlocked? That would be better than a Sprint Note 9 or no carrier unlocked model directly from Samsung? I'm purchasing very soon and want to make sure I purchase the best device. The Sprint network should be "liveable" if you can easily roam with Tmobile. Just want the best phone to do this. Thanks in advance!

I am sure my question has been answered before but IDK how to find it in these 1000's of posts.

I purchased a Sprint version of LG G5 on Ebay. It does not include a SIM card. For me to sign up for this free promotion, am I obligated to get the SIM card directly from Sprint, or would I able to obtain this BYOD SIM card locally .. like at a Sprint store? I am only asking because the wiki suggests calling for a sim instead of ordering it online. Just checking if there only these 2 ways to obtain a SIM that will work on this plan. I did read the wiki but it didn't answer my question clearly..

Thanks!

Just finished activation. Came from Mint. Did the full check/order/activation online and didn't have any issues. Port out of mint to sprint took about 5 min. 3-5 day Shipping was free and originally said no activation fee (now its showing 30 online) but I'll wait and see for my first bill since a lot of the dates and other stuff has been off/not updated during this whole process. Sprint is sketchy af tbh. But worth dealing with for unlimited for a year for taxes and fees. Thanks for all the info in this thread and wiki

No, the TMobile Note 9 is not supported quite yet (it could be any day now). Right now ,you could not activate it on Sprint at last report. Even if you could, it would have no advantages over the Sprint version

You need either the Sprint version or the factory unlocked one.

I myself would get the Sprint version if you want all Sprint features including Wifi Calling, Visual Voicemail and (very soon) VoLTE. Certainly it will roam optimally on TMobile. You will be able to use use it on all carriers once brand switching is released soon. It gets Sprint updates faster than any other version.

Some may prefer the factory unlocked version for its lighter software load and customizability and the ability to run on all carriers today, but today it will lack several of the Sprint features (although there are workarounds for the absence of some of them including a PlayStore version of Wifi Calling).

If someone else wants to make the case for the factory unlocked version, by all means go ahead.

Either will work, though, it is just a matter of the pros and cons.

Update: Spent another 4 hrs on phone yesterday. Short version: The last person they connected me with was USA based tech support. She indicated that they were having problems provisioning iPhone Xs. Said she was going to look for a workaround. After about 30 min with her, we had data but no voice or SMS. Another 30 min with her and we finally got voice and text working too. In the end, this was all "on their side", but was a PITA to try to convince them of that.
Sorry I couldn't have more help. Glad to hear that they fixed it for you. I am guessing they added the IMEI via DNA2 to the Sprint's DMD so that it can be activated on the Sprint's servers since your iPhone XS originated from T-Mobile. Welcome to Sprint and make more love Big Grin

Your $30 activation fee is waived as part of this promotion. The fee will appear on your first bill and a credit will appear within 2 bills.

While this does not happen too often and isn't always a deciding factor (and I havent had to ask for a phone to be added into inventory in a while thankfully), I've noticed typically reps give only the IMEI when adding phones to the database over the phone with their sales support dept and that may work usually but I've had a couple phones rejected to my surprise, typically androids, that I felt should not be being rejected. Solution (in a couple rare cases); they needed to include the phones model number as well (ex. SM-935T) as IMEI. It's saved me a few times even after a rep assured me it shouldn't make a difference and I was extremely happy to keep my phone. Lately almost any phone I try is good to go, so this may be less relevant but always worth a try. Rep knowledge is far from uniform even in the same store.

Because of the phone, not the carrier, as noted by Sam. The carrier has nothing to do with it.
The current list at
https://community.sprint.com/t5/P...-p/1020211

shows that the following Moto models are eligible:

Motorola
Moto E4 (XT1768)
Moto E4 Plus (XT1775)
Moto G4
Moto G4 Play
Moto G4 Plus
Moto G5 Plus
Moto G5S Plus
Moto G6
Moto G6 Play
Moto X Pure Edition
Moto X4(XT1900)
Moto Z2 Play (XT1710)
Moto Z3 Play (XT19294)

I do see XT1775 on there. For that one, did you try calling the number ending in 8777 and asking them to double check the IMEI?
Okay, I called. My Moto E4 Plus and Mint are both normally eligible. The problem is I had used the phone previously with a Sprint MVNO called Tello and it is causing an issue in Sprints system. I also have an iPhone 6 from At&t laying in a drawer and that passed fine with my mint number. So I'll use that and then when I get the SIM I'll just put it in any phone I want.

Sprint device activation is very tricky due to a mixed bag of devices that they have to support since the Sprint PCS network in the old days. I hope everything will be easier and streamlined once they shut down 2G and 3G, and no longer have to support legacy devices and networks. They will stop activating select legacy devices after April 30, 2019. Then get rid of Sprint DMD and shut down those networks after their leases and contracts expire. This could take many years if they are to fulfill all those leases and contracts in good faith since they have a few that last till 2029, but nothing could stop a few good lawyers to terminate those leases and contracts sooner if needed.

OK well that's some progress!

Unfortunately the "move the sim" idea will not work at all on Sprint, which goes by IMEI only (and requires various different sims depending on phone model as well).

Tello is a big problem because they will not flip the ownership flag (from mvno-appropriate value PLBL) back to SPCS which is what is required to activate on Sprint postpaid.

I would suggest search and read up on this to understand it and try to get Sprint to flip the flag on the basis that while Tello should do it, they refuse (maybe ask Tello first just to get their known refusal policy documented). Ask TeleSales to escalate it. Be prepared for a multi-battle campaign to accomplish this. There are about 5 ways to do it but none are trivial. Expect multiple people to suggest their own favorite way.

Sprint customers at the Big Game this weekend will have a great experience benefiting from the major investment we've made in network upgrades and our deployment of Massive MIMO.

The picture shows 367 Mbps down [sprint.com], but that was measured with an empty stadium. If anyone here going to the Big Game, could you please do several speed tests and share with us the real throughputs during the game; with all the heavy network traffic when people are taking selfies, texting, streaming adult materials, etc.?

Those look good. I see that ATT phone didn't get the 5Ge icon upgrade to mislead their customers.

Can you enable hotspot via the ability to force it in many android phones even without the tethering plan, or will sprint cut your service off?

I just want a data connection for my 93 year old grandma so she can use a echo show
