If you are already on this plan can you buy your own compatible phone from outside of sprints website and upgrade your old phone.
"Upgrades" are not allowed.

Just swap it on, yes.

What is the difference? That is Sprint's terminology. To them, an upgrade is a sale of a phone by Sprint at a discount from list price. If you ask about an "upgrade" they will say no.

Please read the Wiki for how to do it safely.

If you are willing to pay list price, you can even order from the TeleSales rep at the 8777 number too. Just buy it at the same time as you sign up in that case, not separately, to avoid extra charges.

It's not totally free!!! Tax around 4.50$ will come for each line.. which is abnormal from my previous carrier taxes .
That's all listed in the wiki. At the bottom of the wiki you'll find totals by zip code.

And it's not all taxes. Each line has a $2.50 administrative charge.

Did you want a free bowl of soup too?

Glad you pointed that out. Maybe I'll change to a different carrier, pay $45 per month and reduced fees.
(BTW I pay $3.70 per line total)

Ok, I'll ask, who was your previous carrier and how much was your total monthly bill?

Need a little help with a new line...

I talked my friend into signing up here... bought a used sprint iPhone 6s+. Cleared the IMEI checker. Got a T-mo number to transfer in. Signup went all good, phones show up in online account.

Phone will not activate or make calls... called sprint for help and they say the phones are locked. I asked if they were locked to another MVNO or similar and she said no. Made me think it was locked to a Sprint account. She told me to go the the corp store to see what they can do. But we all know to avoid that if possible.

If they were locked, why did they pass the IMEI checker and pass the signup?

What can I do at this point to get them unlocked if I dont know the details? Is there a specific dept to call to get them unattached from the other sprint account?
I got this straightened out finally.

Short story:
Had the wrong IMEI and ICCID on the phone info on account
Went to the corp store and they fixed it. All good.

Before the store trip, I asked several times to the rep and the tech also if they were sure my IMEI and ICCID were correct and they both said Yes.

Moral of the story for me...
If it isn't working, ask them to repeat the IMEI and ICCID for you instead of telling them first.

Also look them up on your dashboard and compare them. It is too tedious to give step by step as to how but basically start to change them. It will be very educational for anyone to find them on their own (plus my Sprint account is closed temporarily)..

I am looking on the dashboard now to be sure they didn't change the plan. That looks to be okay still.

Where does it show the device IMEI and ICCID?

Edit: looking under devices: change device or change sim shows most info
Weird though the IMEI shown here is completely different format from what is on the phone

Don't care though since its all working now anyways.

You can't do any promos like that. That has cash value and there is no money in this plan for Sprint to pay out cash like that.

It is in the terms and conditions by name as excluded.

"May not be combinable with other offers, including but not limited to AAA, AA, Credit Union, Premium International Experience, Port in credits, Prepaid Reward Cards, Referral Rewards programs and IB/Lease "promotions.

Just throwing this out there for anyone needing a number to port...

I talked my friend into signing up on this deal today. He didn't want to bring his personal number in if it didn't work for him so he needed a new number.

I got a free T-Mo sim from Apple store earlier and went through the same port out process that is mentioned many times for getting out and then return for 2nd year. Once on the T-Mo site, after inputting my sim number, instead of porting a number in to T-Mo, I chose the option for "new number".

Added the $3 fee for Pay-As-You-Go and it gave a new phone number. I waited 15 minutes and then ported that new number to Sprint.

I didn't see this option mentioned anywhere for people needing new numbers to port in. This would work for most instead of going through Google Voice or other options.

The format of meid from IPhone settings is hexadecimal while on Sprint dashboard may show decimal format is my guess.
