Got all 4 sims ready to port over from Tmobile. Questions:
how to get the 5th line to work on the Ipad? Assume my credit is good up to 5 lines.
Also, if I do it online I will get 120 bucks activation fee and will be credited back automatically without calling. Trying to sign up without dealing with human reps. Thank you

I do not have any carrier now. I am starting from scratch and looking to buy a compatible phone first. Wanted to know the next steps after purchasing the phone. From what i understood, this deal is not for new customers, but for those switching over from competitors, correct? So what would be the easiest and least expensive way to get a sim and number from a competitor so that i can then port over to sprint..thanks in advance
get a free T-Mo sim from the Apple store (doesnt matter what phone model you ask for), sign up online for the $3 pay-as-you-go plan, they will give you a new number if you are not porting in one. the receipt page will include your T-Mo account number info. and do remember your PIN that you entered during the process.

then port in to Sprint with the new number. total cost $3

I get it that is free but sprint service sucks most of the time in Austin TX. I've been on the promotion for 3 months and I don't know if I want to keep using sprint. I rather pay for something that I can actually use

Make sure you have Roaming enabled to take advantage of free unlimited roaming on TMobile.
However this depends on what phone you are using. Most Androids do not have it yet to the full extent. S8 is one that does and also those with VoLTE have it. Unfortunately S9 does not have VoLTE quite yet. iPhones 8 and above have VoLTE in many (not yet most) areas.

Sprint's free service is good only if it works for you -- otherwise move on to something else

Its not that bad around Chicago -- I keep mine as a spare line and use it to burn data

H2O (ATT) -- you can buy $1 SIM from BB/Target according to last few pages: https://slickdeals.net/f/12765442-h2o-wireless-30-days-of-the-unltd-talk-text-6gb-data-plan-5-new-lines-port-ins-only?v=1&page=15

Is it possible to only port out or cancel the main line that was used to start the plan? Or will that affect all other lines on that account?

There is no "main" line so you can cancel or port out any line you want -- account will remain active until the last line is gone

Thank you. For some reason I thought I read or was told that if that first initial line is canceled, etc. it would affect the whole account. Doesn't really make sense however I know how touchy they can be with this plan.

answers to this an other common ? are in wiki:
read wiki
from wiki:

Note 8: porting out of sprint
if u hate the service best to cancel via porting out of sprint.
that will cancel the account.
if u go this route, u must port out every number to have account completely cancelled.
if u have more than 1 line, then porting out 1 line will not effect the others.
if u dont care about number, port out to h20 and let number die.
h20 sim are pretty inexpensive on amazon.
order now as it is good to have h20 sim on hand for future use.

Other-branded Note 9 is still ineligible for the moment but support is expected from Samsung in the next couple of months. It is totally a Samsung issue, not a Sprint one. You cannot move a Sprint Note 9 from Sprint to any other carrier either for now.

Samsung unlocked Note 9 version works just fine fortunately. Still not sure what features it's missing yet though.

Yes it does.

I would check if Visual VoiceMail is there. I think not but you should be able to add a version from PlayStore.
I would check if Wifi Calling works.
I know VoLTE does not work yet but it does not work yet on the branded version either quite yet.

Most important right now may be the Roaming issue. Someone on Howard Forums has posted that his will not roam on TMobile. You might want to disable the Sprint bands (https://slickdeals.net/f/10235008-sprint-byod-1-year-unlimited-talk-text-data-free-w-eligible-device-sim-req?v=1&p=125265844&src=SiteSearch#post125265844) and see if it goes over to TMobile.

You need LTE Discovery or better SignalCheck Pro paid version to monitor the bands.

Most of these should be remedied by updates that are in the pipeline though so I would not be too concerned.

Should I anticipate any issue swapping my note 8 to an unlocked S10+?
