There is a promotion right now to get a $1 sim for tracfone and get a $25 amazin gift card upon activation of a $15 plan. Is there some reason that wouldn't work? Why aren't people doing that? It's a $9 moneymaker instead of paying to go to tmo

Someone on Reddit claimed that the LG G5 works on this, but I'm not seeming to see it in the list of compatible devices... Can anyone chime in? I don't have a G5 personally, but I'm trying to help some friends get on the plan for cheap. they also don't have a G5 yet, so I don't have a IMEI to work with -- to use on the compatibility checker

My Sprint LG G5 (postpaid) fails the check. I plan to try it in the coming week, though, so we'll see then.

Just "renewed" for another year using a different SSN and T-Mobile for porting. Some notes that might be helpful:

1. Used the T-Mobile website to port out of Sprint. You need your Sprint Account number and PIN. Chose $3 paygo plan and had to pay the $3. Port completed in like 5 min.

2. Had to sign up for a My T-Mobile online account to get my TM account number - so I did need to put the TM SIM into my phone to receive SMS verification code to setup online account access.

3. Called Sprint and did credit check, then ported over line from TM. Even re-used the existing Sprint SIM that I just ported out from minutes ago. Took 45 min in total.

4. After hanging up with the phone rep, signed up and checked My Sprint account online, signed up for autopay to save the $5/mo. And noticed that OF COURSE Sprint Complete ($19/mo) device protection plan is on my account - even though the phone rep made absolutely no mention of this. Website would not let me remove the service myself, so used online chat (you need to navigate to a real person) and they took it off - said I would not incur any charge for it at all.

All in all pretty much what I expected based on the helpful info in this thread. I wasn't even upset about the Sprint Complete being added on without my permission since it seems that is just the way they do it. Just have to remember to remove it.
you used a different SSN, correct? also, why did you have to signup for autopay online? doesnt the phone rep do that for you?

Someone made this edit in the wiki... I didn't see it on mobile:

Quote :
NOTE TO ALL: Any older Sprint smartphone can work as long as it has a SIM card, has LTE compatibility and isn't a WiMAX device, and isn't blacklisted. I've been able to help add over a dozen phones for free for other people and have activated older phones such as the LG G3, G4, G5, and older Samsung Galaxy S4, and many more. The preferred list is only shown to lure the people who already have high-powered smartphones over or back to Sprint to gain more traction but it doesn't mean your older Sprint phone isn't compatible with their free year of service. My own LG G5 gets perfect reception even though it's unlisted and had no problems whatsoever getting it activated.
I just don't know if there's any special calls you have to make to Sprint to get it working... I imagine they would have mentioned that if so though

Porting into GV costs $20. The only reason to do so is if you plan to keep the number on GV (and forward it to another number); otherwise, I recommend to just go with T-mobile if you will be porting it back out to Sprint.
Thanks, I forgot that T-Mobile is easy and free.

The phone rep didn't offer to sign me up for autopay and I didn't ask. It's so easy to do yourself online anyway.
