I wanted to make sure I had immediate support if porting from Sprint to T-Mobile went wrong so today I went to a T-Mobile store and ported all five of my Sprint lines to them for about $13 each on their Pay-As-You-Go plan. Didn't leave the store until all phones were up and running. It took about an hour. I then took the phones straight home and called Sprint. The sign up process, porting from T-Mobile, testing the phones, and then cancelling the TEP plan later online took a total of about two and a half hours. Hello 2nd free year!
A very well thought out plan which probably saved you a lot of time and trouble overall!

Thanks SD for year 3! Tmo ports were instant both online and via phone rep. All my Tmo accounts in new system with random account numbers. The S rep confirmed that the plan ends tomorrow!

I can confirm my t-mobile account number is NOT my phone number. I also used digital sim, first trying via the web site, and after having issues, with a csr. But some other people are saying their account num is using the phone number, so ymmv.

Edit: by the way, do you already have a Sprint sim? If not, how are you going to signup with Sprint by the tomorrow deadline?
thanks. Let me call up t mobile. btw as for the SIM, I am swtiching from my to my wife's account. So, already have the SIM .. Smilie.

My experience says no. I learned my lesson the 2nd time and made sure I got the acct before I hung up. 2 days ago sprint port dept from very helpful. They called Tmobile and got the acct for me. No biggie. Just extra time.
Oh shoot, I just hanged up. Let me call up tmobie to see if they can provide me the account number.

Edit - No go. They told me they need me to provide them a PIN which will be used to by them to display my account #. I will visit tmobile store tomorrow.

If you do it online the process forces you to buy a new sim card for shipment.
Does this thing end at midnight (Pacific time) tonight? Im reading different things here. Rep I talked to earlier said ends 'today' but she was in an entirely different time zone, so I came away confused.

I tried to port in with a Google Voice # and the rep said it was invalid 'cause it came up as a landline... I paid $3 to port that number out 2+ years ago, so idk if that had something to do with it, but the online checker said it was fine. Wonder if the rep messed up....

Right - it is already the 4th in the Philippines and the U.S. East Coast and the 4th is the last day.

The GV # should be fine if it passes https://shop2.sprint.com/NASApp/o...PECLanding

The rep might be using a strict interpretation of the port criteria. 99% of reps will accept any number. Maybe call it bandwidth.com which may sound better. Just tell him you know it will go through. He is trying too hard to pre-screen for problems, that's all. It should be no skin off his back to go with it.

I trust you called the number ending in 8777.

I would just call again.

Even though the promo ends tomorrow if we sign up online , does it mean we will still get the offer even though we won't be able to activate until we get the new sim card

Yes I am confident that will be fine. That is the way it has been with expirations of other offers.

However it is obviously slightly safer to get the sims locally and do it by phone immediately, in case things get lost or mixed up, which can happen, so that you can cancel and start over from scratch easily if need be while still inside the open period...

So now that I've successfully added a Free line and have my Sprint account all done I'm wondering if I tried doing the same for my wife if that would work too? I figured having 2 accounts with Sprint could be a good thing to having our options open? I just wonder if I would get past the security credit check by calling for her or would it be best to have her call in?

I suppose I already know almost everything about her as she is 35 & we been together since she was 18? Or I could probably take my chances by going online to do the ordering of a Sim Card and taking my chances?

My friend has a eligible Boost Mobile Samsung J7 Perx that passes the IMEI check plus It has a old Sprint SIM card in it that should work for service. I wonder if I can attempt to activate this without me having the phone as he has it for his kid to use over Wi-Fi. Or try to hunt down another Sprint phone locally? 🙂🤔😉

Sure you can do it without the phone, at least unless something comes up that requires them to text the phone for security verification. But that does not normally come up during activation.

It may be best to have her call in, or conference call with her, because we have seen cases where the husband fails the identity quiz trying to answer the questions for the wife.

HOWEVER I am not so sure it is a benefit to use up all SSN's in the same offer though. That will exclude both of you from other offers that come along, including SWAC (employee referral) plans which are very attractive. I would not do it.

If you have the sim number and the imei of the phone I guess you can activate the phone. Just tell the rep yeah yeah that it's all good and it takes time for it to connect to the network and you have to go. Also as comintel advises, and as a good thing to do try not to pretend you are someone else during the application even though you know everything about the other person. I use mine, my wife's and my kid's ssn and they are with me during the application. . For me it's good not to have 2 accounts at the same time unless you really need 10 lines. Watch if another crazy deal happens and that's the time you would use your wife as a new account etc. Examples are the Essential, LG G6, iPhone SE deals...
