Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.
Can I cancel after the first year?
Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

For what it's worth when I asked for my iPhones to be unlocked few months, it took a few tries and requests before they finally were able to unlock them successfully. Obviously your situation is different as they said it has a financial obligation. Maybe try again with another rep and see if it was simply a mistake?

Makes absolutely no sense that they let you activate it and are now concerned with a balance owed by someone else! Why would Sprint even care?

Sprint's FED/FEC is garbage to deny unlocks. If you said Samsung they probably would say Samsung is owed.

I've been trying to get my wife's iphone 7 unlocked for months. They've told me at least 4 times that it's unlocked but it's not.

If you have not done so, I would suggest try Retentions at 844-382-3317. They are officially in charge of Unlocks.

Other people recommend International department via Chat but I suspect you may have tried them already.

My parents aren't heavy data or airtime users, but I might want my mom to have some data coverage just in case. Anyone have recommendations for the next cheap service provider?

You can buy Tello's lowest tier data plan for $5 a month with no tax. It has unlimited slow-speed data after you use up the included 500 MB of high speed data. (You have to have some plan to qualify for unlimited lower-speed data).

Than you can make a cash deposit to cover phone calls at 1 cent a minute pay as you go.

Doing it this way eliminates additional tax and gets you unlimited data (high/low speed)..

do you mean you need something more than the $5 plan?

does iMessage work with Tello? or just SMS?

For unlimited free slower-speed data, that is all you need.

If you want Tello voice, though, yes, add a cash paygo deposit of $20 which will last for 2000 minutes which is 33 hours with no expiry ever and set it to reload with $10 or $20 increments when/if ever needed.

On Android at least, you can use Google Voice/ Hangouts VOIP for free to avoid using Tello plan minutes. This works well in good-signal areas or where you have wifi.- sometimes better than carrier voice

There are other options and combinations. See https://tello.com/buy/custom_plans for details.

As to iMessage, I am not an iPhone user but it should work fine.

Question. I picked up an s10e from Fleabay. Waited 50 days and now chatting to get an unlock code. Asked where i bought it. I said not sure maybe best buy. They say there is a balance due from best buy. And i need to contact them. Anyone with advice before i call BB. The fleabay site is a reputable seller who sells many many devices.

Try international chat dept for unlocks

So after visiting a corporate store and then calling international support(because store can't provide an unlock), they also say they cannot unlock because there is still a financial owe to Sprint on this phone. So he could not answer the q of why then could i even activate it on my account. They just do.

Soo... I suspect an unlocking service will not be able to unlock either (someone please tell me i'm wrong)

Also, if unable to unlock, will i be able to activate on Tello?

Probably they will activate but not unlock phones on which money is owed but are not yet formally in default. For example, suppose you buy a phone on time normally. Would it not be normal that they will activate it but not unlock it until it is fully paid off?

Tello is a Sprint mvno so you might be able to migrate it there, especially since that is not a true port (they call it a "migration"). I would not be surprised either way. You can at least try the checkers on Ting and Tello. However if the original BestBuy deal was that it must be used only on Sprint until paid off, they may bar that path too.

Ting: Sorry, this phone can't be activated right now. This device has not reached financial eligibility. Tello is pretty much the same.

I guess my bad for only checking it on the sprint byod site

This phone sounds like it didn't pass FED, not sure what can clear that.

oh man...i just recieved a lg g7 i biought on ebay from a "good seller"

i received it today...

i am getting the same error on ting and tello site...

i am not sure if it will activate on a regular sprint account...how can one check that?

heer is the error.:

Sorry, this phone can't be activated right now. This device has not reached financial eligibility.
The Sprint account holder is the only one that can clear this balance with Sprint. If you have recently paid off your Sprint device, please ensure you allow 48 hours before checking compatibility.

If you bought the phone from a 3rd party you may want to ask for a refund.

edit: seller claims phone was used on sprint. initial activation date is 11/15/2019.

edit 2: seller claims to have paid off balance )$50) a week ago. seller will go to sprint store and try to sort it out. so there is hope for me i think
