Exact Sprint terms are: "previously activated phone numbers may not be eligible for this offer."

Interpret that as you like but clearly the foolproof option is to go with phone numbers that have never been activated on Sprint.
I see that language from Verizon, but not from Sprint that I have seen. In any case, the Sprint promotion does require a "new line", so I agree that people are best advised to use a new "number for port" of the type you suggest from another carrier.

They can still use their old number by porting it to Google Voice ($20 one-time charge) and forwarding calls to the new never-before-used ported-in number.

A couple of people have said on reddit that BestBuy Unlimited Kickstart $25 now is good to 4/9.

I cannot guarantee that this is correct but it seems plausible.

I switched to hellomobile while eating cereal this morning, took maybe 20 mins to port, phone still says sprint(iPhone XRs) so for $40 said and done for two unlimited lines, I couldn't be happier. Well, hotspot, but I didn't need it before, and don't now.

Don't you need to purchase phone though, now with Instore shopping and services closed(curbside pickup).

It is either/or.
Either A or B.

(A)
You can come back with the same number but without the $300 by just porting out to a non-Sprint number and calling Recovery (not Retentions)

or

(B)
If you want the $300 as well, it is more complicated. You can
(1) Port in a brand new "number for port" from Ebay or elsewhere to Kickstart. This will qualify you for the offer.
(2) Port out your original number to Google Voice ($20) and leave it there for the 3 months, forwarding calls to the number you ported in to Sprint so that you still get all your calls.

Also in case (B) you can choose whether or not to use BestBuy to get the $25 a month rate for Kickstart, at some risk of not getting the $300...

Anyone thinking of using Best Buy to get the $25/month rate for Kickstart and also hoping of getting the $300 Prepaid Mastercard better note this below and be aware that there is a risk of not getting the $300:

"Limited time offer. Unlimited Kickstart: Video streams up to 480p, music up to 500 Kbps, gaming up to 2 Mbps. Data deprioritization during congestion. With AutoPay. Reqs new line and BYOD or Full SRP phones. Other mo. charges apply.** Prepaid Mastercard requires port and online registration; ships after 90 days."

As you can see, when you do this at Best Buy there is NO online registration, so there is a pretty good chance that there will be NO $300 Prepaid Mastercard.
Surely, there is no harm trying but do not be disappointed if you do not get it.

It's better to port and register online for the $35/mo Kickstart to get the $300 Prepaid Mastercard since that covers the additional $10/mo for 30 months. Unless you are determined to stay with Sprint for more than 30 months and hope that the $25/mo will be available forever.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Unless you can bypass that in one way or another (on the phone or whatever), you would have to factor in whether the phone is worth buying at the price offered. I think it might be if you planned on staying with Kickstart. Some of the phones are low cost.

A lot is going to turn on whether you are still eligible for the $300 gift card if you do it through Best Buy. Do you have an opinion on that?

Surely "registration" refers to the required after the fact registration of your number for the offer on the Sprint promotion site (which is indeed required as it is for all the gift card offers)..

You can do that registration on the Sprint promotions page just the same way as you can if you buy it directly from Sprint. Some have done so and it did not reject it at least initially..

You can port in too.

I agree there is a risk it might not be honored, but I lean toward thinking they should/will have to honor them under the terms.

I can't comment since I never ordered online for activation at Best Buy. Like does it redirect you to Sprint for activation? If not maybe 3rd party not eligible.

I believe it does but have not done it myself either.

As far as I know you are a 100% Sprint customer and Best Buy is just acting as a sales agent that drops completely out of the picture. I do not see anything in the terms that says the offer applies only if you activate through Sprint directly.

It is a slightly different plan name - Kickstart NR or some such as I vaguely recall.

Personally I might/may gamble that they will have to give the $300 (whether they intend to now or not).

Or what do you think "registration" refers to?
"Registration" may and most likely will be interpreted any way the new merged T-Mo company will do it at the time, since it states "requires port AND online registration" and since this offer is only available online, it can clearly be interpreted as doing the port AND registering online for the $35 offer to qualify for the Prepaid Mastercard.
But you may be right.

With Sprint you never know as many here have received a $200 prepaid Mastercard for adding a new line to the Free BYOD plan!
The uncertainty arises when the T-Mo people take over and administer this offer.
Most likely they will be of a higher caliber than the Sprint people with stricter rules, and determined not to lose $$$.

Hmm, if "registration" referred to signing up for the offer on the Sprint site, then there would be nothing requiring registration on the gift card site. I believe all the gift card offers require that and say so.

Personally I would bet that new TMobile will honor prior offer terms as written (even when written sloppily) but we will see.......

I am happy to report that Sprint extended my BYOD Free Plan to 06/30/2020. Just asked the CS about my options to stay with Sprint and she extended it.

You did this on Sprint Chat???
If so, this must be a new directive to all Sprint CS reps after they look up a customer's account.
Not just the retention dept.
