That is true. Sprint bills in arrears.

But that is only a question of timing. It does not affect anything other than WHEN you will be billed..

Everything we have posted is correct.
Does this mean that if i have a billing cycle of may21-june20, that i am still on the promo through july 20 (or a week before july 13 billing?

Assuming your free plan extension end date is June 30, yes it does.

But I cannot make personal guarantees about Sprint charges. They could change interpretations. So please call Retentions (only) at 844-382-3317 for confirmation. This is too tricky any issue to use Chat or call regular reps.

Most people are porting out by June 30 just to be safe against a change in billing practice (unlikely as this should be).

Yes, my extension end date is 6/30. I'll call retentions tomorrow.

Anyone with an extension end date of 5/31 wanna confirm their experience?

Just so people know, Sprint has a new offer of a free line for life for ONLY CERTAIN existing customers.

https://www.sprint.com/en/landing...on-us.html

I have no idea which accounts are eligible and which are not but if you log onto your account it will have messaging if you are eligible.

I do not have a free plan account any more to see if it is eligible. Kickstart is not eligible and SWAC is not eligible.

FAQs

Who is eligible for the Unlimited Line On Us promotion?
Existing Sprint customers who:

Joined Sprint prior to 6/17/2020.
Have an eligible plan.
Have at least one active voice line.
Are eligible to add a line of service on their account.

What plan is available with this promotion?
This line comes with the Unlimited Line On Us Plan which provides Unlimited talk, text and SD video streams at up to 480p, music at up to 500 Kbps, and gaming at up to 2 Mbps. During congestion, the small fraction of customers using more than 50GB/mo. may notice reduced speeds until next bill cycle due to data prioritization. Unlimited data on our network.

Is the line really free?
Yes! With this promotion, there is no monthly service plan charge!

How long is the line free?
The monthly service plan charge for the line remains $0/mo. for the life of the line and requires you to keep all current phone lines on your account active through June 30, 2021. Any modifications to your account, such as cancelling an existing line, changing plans on your account or transferring lines to another account may make you ineligible to continue receiving the Unlimited Line On Us Plan.

Why do I have to pay monthly taxes and fees when I don't have an active phone?
Your reserved line is just like any other line and therefore subject to standard fees and taxes even though you are not actively using the service.

How long do I have to activate a phone on my free line?
As long as you need! We'll keep the line active until you are ready to activate a phone, but why wait? Add a phone and start using your FREE Unlimited today!
Looks like you have to keep the other phone on the plan it's on now and then add a new line so that would mean for us that are on the Free plan now it would be costly for the first line and then the 2nd line is free? No way to just get a free line again like this plan?

Oh that's true - it would not be attractive for most people on the free plan even if they are eligible.

It may be attractive for some who are on a multiple line plan.

Either the chat rep was confused or you misunderstood maybe.

This is a STANDARD OFFER to stay with Sprint BUT it's FREE for ONLY one line, the third line ONLY stays free until April 30, 2021.
So, for 3 lines the monthly charge will be $60+$40+$0. For every line after the 3rd line it'll be $20/line.

Actually, for people with 3 lines (or more) this may still be a relatively good deal since it comes to $33/line+tax+fees (or $28/line for 5 lines) until 4/30/2021 for unlimited service.
It's cheaper than the Sprint $35 Kickstart service, the Best Buy Sprint Kickstart service is $25/mo/line and you can get a free Moto E6, BUT that deal may not last much longer.
For those with 4 or 5 lines or more the Verizon deal of almost free for 8-9 months is better. Search the thread here and on SD for that and do your homework.

There is NO extension, and there will be NO extension for the free byod program, past 6/30/2020.
Sorry for the bad news!!!
Lol dude u totally jinxed it! I texted them to double check, now they'll saying the customer rep miscommunicated and it's only the 3rd line free (?), Even though I repeated over and over if it was all lines free and he said yes. I told them I had screenshots and they're just leaving me on hold

That's the way the dice roll! You win some, you lose some.

Seriously though, it has been repeatedly stated here for years now, and by MANY posters that the chat reps and the phone reps are NOT to be trusted. Did I say repeatedly?

On August 1st Sprint will officially cease to exist so no one there cares much now.
Don't even bother anymore.
Move on folks to greener pastures, the grass is dead here!

Yea the offer is third line free but is exaggerated by some reps from time to time.

We have seen at least 2 people go through that with that offer being exaggerated or misunderstood by reps. (Chat is usually abysmally informed and ethical and lacks authority as well and in general it is better to call Retentions/Account Services).

After being misled by a rep though, one person did manage to get a compromise settlement of one line free for a year on its own.

Since you have screen shots, you might do as well or even better.

If you want to try, email [email protected]. (Senior VP Marci Carris who is in charge of settling such things). They usually open a case and investigate as the first step. I think you may get something at least.

Thanks! Will give it a shot. Final verdict from live chat is $100 for 2 lines and the 3rd line free (I had 3 lines); it's a great deal that we're extending to u because ur a loyal customer 😒... Pretty sure normal pricing had always been $100 for 2 lines and line 3,4,5 free

Those multiline special pricing offers were "limited time special offers" expiring in one year so they would claim they do not count, but you are right that variants were indeed made repeatedly for years.

I am chatting with a sprint rep now, and he is saying that i am charged at the end of the cycle, not at the beginning. I am so confused. He said: "Your bill cycle starts every 21st and end every 20th then the due is 21 days after your cycle close date.", He is saying that the last payment they collected on June 13 was for the April 21-May20 cycle. So the next payment on July13 will be for the may21-june20 cycle.
So, by that Sprint rep's logic, your 8/13 payment will be a "free" period payment and it will be for the 6/21 to 7/20 billing period.
In that case, you are paid for "free" period until 7/20, so you get an extra 20 "free" days, so the "free" offer lasts until 7/20, NOT until 6/30. So, you must port out by 7/18-7/19 at the latest or by 7/13-7/15 for port out safety.
Unless you get that guaranteed in writing, you should not really count on it.

Sprint is not going to collect for service a month later. On its face it makes no proper business sense.
When you pay the rent in your home on the 1st of the month it's for the coming month, NOT the previous month.
Sprint billing is the same.

Based on my billing experience since joining this offer a few years ago, I was immediately charged for the upcoming billing month.
I thought that I'll be charged at the end of the billing cycle so that I'll be charged for any extras like overseas calls, etc., in that billing cycle, but upon calling to complain I was told that Sprint bills for the month ahead.
It has been so since, even after porting out and back in to "renew" the free offer.

I strongly doubt that Sprint has changed its billing ways only for some customers but not others.

Your June 13 billing payment will be your last free billing payment for the period 6/21 to 7/20.
Your 7/13 bill will be at the regular price of $60/$40/$20/$20/$20, for the billing period of 7/21 to 8/20.
Depending on your tolerance for risk, if you want to push the limits, you better have completed your port out by 7/11 since it may take 24 hours to show this in the Sprint system and close your account to avoid the regular price 7/13 billing, but since port outs can sometimes hit snags it's better to have the port out completed by 7/6.

As many here have said: be safe and port out at the end of the offer 6/30. The extra 1 or 2 weeks of free service is probably not worth it getting billed full price.
Good luck!

Sprint still has the Unlimited Basic $100 for 4 lines offer:

https://www.sprint.com/en/shop/plans/unlimited-cell-phone-plan.html?ECID=MA:AB:20200421Stick Out TongueroM:Evergre... [sprint.com]

It may be worth it if you find a relative/friend in joining as the 4th line.
That way it'll cost you $75/mo for your 3 lines.

When I use the app and look at my plan, it no longer shows the 6/30 date like it use to. Assuming the migration with TMobile removed that verbiage. However, when I look at the physical bill (pdf) it will show the date. In my case 6/30. It's been a nice 3.5 years of savings!!
