Hi all,
I know eventually someone is going to post this, but I thought I'd give an early heads up. Deal is live already on the east coast and goes through this Saturday. Starting today Target stores are offering some awesome Gift Card deals in honor of Father's Day.
Let's get a few things out of the way:
1) If you are buying outright, you will not get a gift card. (Target isn't supposed to sell phones outright anyway)
2) If you are a T-Mobile customer, you will not get a gift card. (Target does not do T-Mobile phones)
3) If you are getting a (PRODUCT)RED Edition iPhone, you will not get a gift card. (Sorry guys! Pick a different color!)
4) If you are an AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon customer, you're in luck.
(there is one catch if you're with AT&T AND GETTING AN IPHONE... keep reading)
For those wanting an iPhone 7 (or 7+):
All iPhone 7's (or 7+'s) on NEW LINES on any of the three carriers listed above will receive a $250 Target Gift Card as soon as the phone is activated.
All iPhone 7's (or 7+'s) on UPGRADES on any of the three carriers
EXCEPT AT&T will receive a $250 Target Gift Card as soon as the phone is activated. If you are with AT&T and doing an upgrade, you will not receive a Target Gift Card.
For those wanting a Galaxy S8 (or S8+):
ALL Galaxy S8's (or S8+'s) on NEW LINES
OR UPGRADES on any of the three carriers listed above will receive a $200 Target Gift Card as soon as the phone is activated.
ALSO... For anyone with a Target Red Card:
If you submit your Red Card number during the activation process AND pay your taxes and down payment (if applicable) with your Red Card, you will receive a $15 Target Gift Card (IN ADDITION TO previously outlined Gift Cards) every three months over the course of 24 months ($120 total). If you are on the 30 month plan with AT&T, you will receive two extra gift cards ($150 total).

Unfortunately I don't have a deal URL for this (you can at least confirm the iPhone deal by going to target.com), but I DO have a PDF given to Target Mobile employees with the deals posted on it. The PDF is not confidential-- it is a handout designed to be given to Target guests. The PDF outlines a few more deals Target is offering.

Please note that Target Mobile (aka Target Tech) will be offering extended hours on Sunday, Friday and Saturday to support this deal. Most locations will have the mobile kiosk open for the entire time the store is open on these days.

I signed up for a deal with Verizon where if you kept your current phone for 30 days they would give you $200. Naturally i signed up for that on the 19th.... 🙄.
Looks like that is true, however this might be a better deal all together.

Do you think an employee will hook me up anyway? Does it really matter if the upgrade is on Verizon, Sprint, etc?
As a Target Tech member I can tell you that, phones at Target are not allowed to be purchased outright and have to be sold with a plan. Also, you are not allowed to pay off the device until the 2nd billing cycle at least.

If it were that simple we would, but we are not allowed to change promotions and hand out gift cards.
Anyone getting this deal now and getting the iphone 8 in the fall? What are your plans?
That is not buying outright, so you will still get a GC.

No, there is absolutely no magic strings a Target Tech employee can pull. I know because I'm a Target Tech peon myself.
There should be an option to select "Keep My Existing Plan". On rare occasion it does not appear. if you go to get the phone and don't have the option to not change the plan, you can always cancel the order.
