Blades are physically similar to those on my 20 year old $20 wahl from the drugstore near campus. -- the blade-guards are good quality and can be used interchangeably with the old model I ended up scavenging this kit for parts to upgrade my old model and the blade-guards were the biggest win. Strangely enough, it didn't come with the ear taper guards... something I would have said was essential for me at 20 when I started buzzing my own hair.
It is markedly quieter than my old model, but the motor is 2/3 the strength (measured by watts consumed) -- Performance wise, it Did fine on my thinning "fine" hair, but it bogged down on my son's thick "coarse" hair, resulting in a motor tone pitch and "pulling" rather than cutting.
That said... It works, and pays for itself in just a few months.

I prefer Oster Professional clippers. I got a Oster Titan for $75 on eBay a year ago. Worth every penny. I don't need add ons, since I use blade 00 to shave my head.
Why not get a cheaper one for your pubes?
