I have an A119 (non-GPS). It's a pretty decent dashcam. Make sure you're running the latest firmware and stay away from Sandisk memory cards. If you get the GPS version, make sure you get the version of the A119 with the redesigned GPS mount (the original mount had a flaky electrical connection between the camera and GPS).
I've been using the A119 with GPS for a bit over a month now. The price here is about $4 less than I got mine for, but I'd still buy it at the price I paid. The build quality is decent (not stellar), and the video is okay. I think the best things about the unit are:
it's small;
it alarms if there's anything wrong (e.g., the mSD card isn't installed or isn't working);
the GPS keeps the clock accurate;
there's a capacitor and not a battery;
the unit comes with a l-o-n-g cord and plenty of accessories; and
the firmware has many features.
If you're in the market for a starter dashcam, this is definitely one to consider.
I have a version of the VIOFO that is/was made by Spy Tec (and lots of other Chinese companies), and it's been reliable for the 1-2 years I've owned it. 1080p is not good enough for a dash cam IMO. In anything but excellent light and close distance it can be difficult to make out license plates in the video. I specifically bought a capacitor version after seeing lots of negative comments about battery versions failing in high temp environments.
