After that, on another conveyor belt, the squawking chick gets thrown down a chute by a person. 1 chute for males, 1 chute for females. I then saw chicks scrambling upwards to avoid the "waterfall" drop that eluded them at the next corner.... it goes on for about 2 mins for various other exercises.
I was just concerned because these are animals that have been alive for MINUTES with frail bones, falling literally 3 - 4 feet at a time, about 5 times each cycle, until finally being "categorized" to sit and probably die somewhere. But what do I know about chickens beside the fact that they taste so delicious
Their bones are probably still soft that soon after hatching. But that's so traumatic for a little baby...even a baby who only has a brain the size of a lentil. Sad.
there was a small chicken farm nearby that processed thousand of chickens. it's a nasty business. the chickens have almost no room to move. they just stand around in cages and eat. they're stacked 5 high. occasionally they get moved to new location until they're the proper size to kill.

last time i went was nov 3 - the night before the election. there were moron teens messing up the traffic lights at midnight on a weekday, holding up their homemade "yes on prop 8" signs. they made my in 'n out run take longer than i wanted.
