If we're patient, this will probably continue to fall in tandem with Walmart...keeping my fingers crossed.

Only 4.8 amp seems pretty weak. I do metal working and would want an 8 or 12 amp 120V motor. This is probably fine for light woodworking.

I bought this in Feb for $90 with a gift card. I wish i could price match but I guess that will teach me to use a credit card with price protection instead of a giftcard.

Anyway, its been good for some hobby woodworking and haven't had any issues. Just gotta have the expectation that this is for home use and not a professional shop. The dust collection is mediocre and the motor is powerful enough but can be stopped if too much pressure is applied. I would buy it again especially at this price point. There are about dozen clones of this style of belt sander that typically go for about $100 such as the Ryobi at Home Depot [homedepot.com], Rikon at Amazon [amazon.com], Mastercraft [canadiantire.ca], King Canada [kmstools.com], and Rockwell [amazon.com]

A lot of WEN tools are the same as HF, but the HF one is only 3.5A

Got this one plus extra an extra sanding belt and pad from Sears with points for $65 shipped a year and half ago. No complaints. If you have SYW points it might be worth checking the Sears price...

Get the one Harbor Freight has. This one is the same as Ryobi. The disc sander is inaccessible from the side. It's a PITA when you want to get an edge that isn't straight on. HF's is much better and it come on sale every so often. Also, this one has a belt drive that goes out and it costs something like $10 if you can find it!
