It's definitely addictive in a really simple way but it's the kind of game that once you burn out on, there's nothing there to really bring you back because it is quite straightforward and doesn't have much else going on beyond the "soccer with cars" angle (but this is all my own opinion and I do seem to be in a minority).
I'd give it 4/5 stars. Definitely worth twelve bucks. Just don't get your hopes up too much based on all the salivating reviews from gamers.

Pc version much cheaper but for Xbox this is a great price
Still very much worth it. There are plenty of training exercises you can do to prepare yourself for online play.
The match making in the game is also pretty good, so you're not playing against aerial masters as a rookie
Even at full price it's $20...you easily spend more than that on a half-decent meal and this game remains one of the most fun and satisfying experiences hundreds of hours in
I have convinced several friends to get this and it has become the go-to game for every one of them since it's so easy to jump in and have a great time, with or without friends in a party
You can hop on and play for 15 minutes while waiting for your party to get online to play another game or you can do RL for a whole night and keep unlocking cool stuff to stick on your car
the amount of free support this game has received since launch is also mind boggling
New cars, arenas, accessories
And did I mention the kick-ass soundtrack?

I have it on XB1, PS4 and PC
and the day it comes out on Switch I'll buy it there too!
To own it on all 4 major platforms will STILL have cost me LESS than a brand new $60 game at that point and that is just ludicrous
