So Costco currently has the new Panasonic 5-Handset Cordless Phone System on sale for $89.99. Costco list this as the KX-TG785SK model. Based off the manual and the specs online this is Costco version of the KX-TGF54B which is a brand new model - http://shop.panasonic.com/cordles...F545B.html.

It is currently sold out online but my local Costco had plenty in stock. One of the cool new features is Voice Assist which will connect to your cell phone that has Siri, S-Voice and GoogleNow.

You act like no one has a landline anymore. Based on a Survey in 2016 at least 48% of households still have a landline. Besides even if you don't you can still use this for the Link2Cell feature, that way if your cell phone isn't in your pocket, it will still ring any of the phones throughout your house and you can answer those.

Yes the generation before me all have land lines that they continue to pay for out of habit. Not out of use.
Yes, we also have houses big enough (to say nothing of children who haven't left the house or came back) where it makes sense to have a convenient intercom system and have a number not associated with our cells (like say, our home office number) so we don't get calls on it all the time. Also, VOIP exists and Google Voice is super convenient.

Yup, use an older model for Link2Cell feature and Google Voice/Obihai VOIP. This model would work the same.

Same idea here. Much prefer having this also for times when I work from home and have to talk to my customers. Love free Google Voice service with Obihai/Panasonic DECT setup.

Or, I have an Ooma Hub that I pay Zero for. There are worse habits than keeping a perfectly performing free telephone service. woot

Some of the hubs don't have the taxes or fees as they were grandfathered in. I *DO* pay the $99 per year (going up to $149 for next year I think) for some extra features but that is optional. I don't pay the taxes and fees on my unit because it was grandfathered in. There might be a few of those older units on ebay, IDK for sure and I will probably just ditch this one if it breaks and not replace it because I hardly ever use it anymore. I forward the calls to my cell now for the elderly relatives that can't be bothered to learn a new number!

I second. Been an Omma user for over 6 years with no tax since I am grandfathered in. Omma did try to get me to switch to the new hub with no tax for the life of the unit but I'm happy with what I have

Bought this when I was at costco
