tl; dr: Someone put a chain collar on a puppy. As the puppy grew, the chain became embedded around the dog's neck. The dog is doing better after surgery to remove the chain

I live in Davidson County, NC. At least I have Krispy Kreme near me to help me forget about humans that would do something like this.

I love my pets more than most people, for reasons just like this. My Guinea Pig, Helix, came to me from a horribly abusive situation. He had been starved and tortured before being removed from that situation and placed with a animal foster family. They fattened him up, and healed him and then placed him up for adoption. When I saw his before and after pictures I cried and knew I had to give him a home. I am glad to say he has been with me now for 2 years and is fat, sassy and happy.
