I sit corrected. I told DH about it and he said the sugar take the excess fluid from the penis osmosis-style.

Sounds farked up, though... sorta like coating it in sand. Crazy

Since this thread proved educational for so many of us, I thought I'd follow up with the outcome. The sweet little dog with the eager to pop penis is having surgery to make the end of the sheath wider so that the penis will slide back in more easily. Often times, vets will make the opening smaller, to prevent the little wee wee from coming out, but that was not the case in this situation.

Just letting it hang out could lead to infection, and it's not pretty. Nono

This specific surgery will be around $300 (or less). Now, if your dog has to have the laser amputation, that would run you closer to $1500.00 because of all of the blood vessels and such.
