I saw this on reddit and it seems like a pretty slick deal to me, especially with graphic card prices where they are right now. So for those of you who, like me, recently got an Oculus Rift and can't play much of anything on it yet:

Newegg Business has a GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1080 DirectX 12 GV-N1080WF3OC-8GD 8GB 256-Bit GDDR5X PCI Express 3.0 x16 ATX Video Card for $509.99, which isn't anything amazing (it was $499 a few days ago), but you can get $50 off with the below coupon code, making it $459.99 + $5 shipping. The lowest price this particular card has been via camelcamelcamel is $469.99 (I know, that's Amazon, but it's a decent enough benchmark).

Coupon Code: B2BEMCJL3
Link: https://www.neweggbusiness.com/pr...14-125-880

Please note that you have to have a NewEgg Business account to take advantage of this deal.

And yes, this card has been $430 on eBay a month ago, but you can't even get a 1070 for that price right now.Card is $509 on Newegg [newegg.com]and Amazon [amazon.com]
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Agghhh...Wait another week or so to see what AMD has, and possibly lower prices, or pull the trigger?

I guess it depends what you're coming from. Personally, I have a GTX 680 (2GB VRAM)... it's 4 years old now, and showing its age. I just pulled the trigger this weekend on a 1060 6gb for $269ish. Still a bit overpriced compared to MSRP, but not terrible for me. Also, I don't intend to play in 1440p, nor in 4k... so I imagine it will suffice for quite some time

If you're not hurting in the games you play, or don't need it for any sort of professional development, then just wait. Prices will eventually drop. Bitcoin may affect the market in a way that'd help us, because it may split I wanna say in early August, depending on if everyone doesn't go with a single certain blockchain method or something. (I don't fully understand it - just read an article). It's hard to say what VEGA will do, but VEGA should be out very soon

The problem with big AMD GPU releases is that even after the announcement, you can't find the card except for well over MSRP for months (or at least that's how the 480 was), and with the current cryptocurrency market (etherium is down but it's still hovering around $220), it's not particularly likely that vega will really shake anything up. Couple that with the fact that it will have, at best, equivalent performance to the 1080 made this a pretty easy buy for me. I suppose I may regret it next week, but my 7870 just can't run VR well.

I've just started pricing out a build a couple weeks ago, are 1080s going to be cheaper by black Friday or keep going up?

most likely people are not going to be impressed since 1080 been impressive already for them to impress they would of had to top the 1080 ti but w.e.

at least i think so

At this point waiting a few more weeks won't harm. First to see if the prices calm down more and stock gets better, second is to see what amd will finally release in terms of price/performance after dragging soo long. I recently sold for $500 my 2.5 slot Xtreme Gaming 1080 that I bought at launch due to the need of a smaller model. I'm personally waiting for FTW2 model to hit lower 500 again though, while gaming on g4560 + 1050ti secondary rig.
