"Japan-based Toshiba will be licensing their brand name to Taiwan-based Compal Electronics. This means that beginning around March of 2015, new TVs showing up on U.S. store shelves carrying the Toshiba label, will not, in fact, be Toshiba TVs."

This is the I think this is the same thing that they had for $199 on Black Friday, I have one and the picture quality is very good.

Is that necessarily a bad thing?
Compal makes high-end Alienware gaming laptops
for Alienware/Dell... including the one I bought last
year for almost $2700.
well.. $350 is not a lot of money... just spend another $50 and buy a 3 or 4 year extended warranty...
assuming the TV has a decent picture.
If I was in the market for a budget big screen, I'd probably be looking at them popular Sceptre/Hisense from recent threads.
This one here is just not a good buy.
Anyhow, let's move on from this pointless thread.
Is this really only 60 Hz refresh rate? That's a huge deal breaker for me.
You won't find a refresh rate at 4K higher than 60 Hz for now due to HDMI limitations. Eventually that will change but not sure when the next HDMI upgrade will be available

Would you buy a "Compal -50" Class (49.5" Diag.) - LED - 2160p - with Chromecast Built-in - 4K Ultra HD TV - Black" for $350?
AND I'm pretty sure Alienware/Dell had quite a bit of input in the making of that $2700 device
