This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

Only exception to the rule is brand new toys. I have done very well with these, esp. at my most recent yard sale (last Saturday!), because people are buying them as gifts.
totally agree. my SIL had a dryer fire in her basement and had a huge bunch of toys that were new but the package was totally damaged. she put the pieces in ziploc bags. so difficult to sell.

Is anybody here not happy Obama won? I guess I should restate that....I'm not not happy, but I just don't think there will be much "change" that he's saying. I mean, realistically, how much power does the president have? Not much. It should be interesting to see what he does. Someone on CNN was talking today about when will Obama state what he's not going to change or when he will realize he can't fix and change everything he's stated that he will. I think Obama is a great man and educated and makes great speeches, though. I guess time will tell...
I am not happy, so you are not alone. I think we will see many more couponers as people have to pinch pennies to pay for the social programs. I am wondering if we will get laid off now as people buy less electronic toys, and how I will pay my electric bill in the summer after the carbon emmisions runs the cost of electric and gas double or triple.

But I have between 6-18 months before the pain hitsBig Grin

So they are NOT putting me on bedrest, I CAN go ahead and go on the trip DH and I set up for next week (to Scotland and Ireland woot) but now I have to have monthly ultrasounds (which I don't really mind-- more chances to keep an eye on junior Wink ) and a bunch of other tests (they want to test my vision and for me to have an EKG).

I'm grateful that it doesn't look like I have pre-eclampsia, but now my pregnancy has gone from simple to complicated. I know it could be way, way worse-- but I'm a worrier by nature and was really hoping they'd just say, "Oh, sorry. It was all a stupid mistake." Embarrassment
I had an ultrasound EVERY 3 DAYS w/ my 4th.......He only had 1 vessel in his imbilical cord -- It was fun in the begining............

hug I am glad it doesn't look like you have pre-eclampsia. woot But, it does suck that it wasn't ruled out. I had a "complicated" pregnancy as well and did have to have numerous testing and ultrasounds (DD was thought to have Down's Syndrome due to the nuchal fold test and the bloodwork). It was a terrifying time. Just try to stay calm and enjoy your pregnancy (if you can, I know it's really tough to do). I do wish I could have enjoyed mine, but was constantly worried. Like you said, the bright side is that you get to see the little one more often!
2 of my boys failed that test too.........I asked if it was genetic because dd did fail & my 1st has different biology but they had no response as to why both male babies tested the way they did -- at 1st they thought 'trisomy 18' (sp???) that was a horrible feeling

Did everyone see this on Oprah?Eliot [oprah.com]

While on my hunt for newspapers this morning I ventured into an Albertsons (sold out Mad) that had self checkout. I have only been in 2 Albertsons in my city and neither have them. I was suprised to see them at this one. I have seen people say they use their catalinas to pay for groceries at the self-checkout. I need to buy groceries/meat really bad and wanted to know how do I use the catalinas to pay for my purchases. How many can I use per transaction? Is there a dollar limit?

Help!
I did the cereal deal and got the rice krispies. there were only 4 boxes left. i would love to have 4 more of the kung fu panda tokens so i can get my little guy the blanket. he loves the movie and taking tkd. i have some fisher price peelies that i probably wont use taht i could trade. thanks!

Here is a recipe to use the corn flakes on - it's great - no bake & only 1 dirty pan!
1 cup white corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cup peanut butter (chunky or creamy)
6 cups corn flakes
Bring corn syrup and sugar to light boil. remove from heat. add peanut butter & stir until smooth. add corn flakes & stir. spoon out teaspoon size on wax paper & cool. makes 48.

Yes, that would get really old after a while.

I remember your family photo-- glad they all turned out so great. Smilie

All the birth defect stuff is so scary. It was something DH and I hadn't talked about before the genetic testing issue came up. Turned out we felt very differently about it, so I'm really really grateful (knock on wood) that it's not an issue for us.

Well, I'm grateful no matter what that it's not an issue, of course.

I took a class on human genetics and social issues a few years ago. Fascinating stuff. Lots of us went home and had long conversations with our S/Os because of it. Purpose of the class was to make us form an opinion on the issues (no right or wrong answers, so long as we backed it up)... I miss that one
