Amazon requiring my to file a police report for a parcel I never received !!!!

1,159 604 August 3, 2017 at 08:52 PM
Hi guys ... I'm pissed at Amazon and don't know what to do ... I ordered a $19.99 item from Amazon about a month ago which got marked as 'delivered', but I never received it. I have complained like 5-6 times since then and Amazon is asking me to file a police report regarding this missing item, because they say their responsibility is over as the parcel was 'delivered'.

I've been an Amazon customer for like 8-9 years and over this time many times parcels got lost, and Amazon always replaced or refunded. Why not this time ???

I'm angry and don't know what to do. Mad

That could be a reason why. But it's not uncommon for a company to do that. If UPS marks something as delivered and you don't get it, they have you file a police report.
If you didn't get it, file a police report. Dontknow

It's not about the $20 item. It's just ethically wrong !

I don't think its "ethically wrong". You even said over the years, many parcels have gone missing. At some point you become a liability. You have to ask yourself, what would you do if you were them?

If this happens constantly, why didn't you have it shipped to 711 or something?

I used to live on the 14'th floor of a 14 story high rise in the 90's. Whenever I did get a delivery, UPS , Postal etc. , I had to pick it up at the manager's office after I came home from work. We had security so there was always someone there till Midnight. This was before internet commerce took off. That place had over 300 apartments. I doubt the management would be so gracious these days with the number of packages that are delivered there now. Anything left outside your door in that place would be gone in 5 minutes.

it will cause an investigation, it could be someone at the post office stealing your stuff. If you really didn't get it, file a police report.

You should be able to file a report over the phone. I imagine some departments might even let you do it online.

Yeah, it could be due to that, if it's happened a number of times. Once a package said delivered to me and it wasn't. I contacted them and they overnighted me a new one. I think that's the only time I requested that.

Then for awhile, things that were supposed to be next day delivered kept getting delivered to my neighbor's house. It was a different shipper (I forget who it was, someone I wasn't terribly familiar with, it wasn't UPS/USPS/Fedex). So when that kept happening, I let amazon know and they had to deal with that particular shipper being a problem. Apparently I wasn't the only one having issues with them.

Could also be there's an issue with packages not being delivered in general in your area and they want you to file a police report so they can investigate the mail facility or if there's someone in that area stealing packages off of porches or something.

Go to the station and file a complaint that will never get investigated.. Get your complaint number and give it to amazon and get the $30 from your gold plated fidget spinner back.

OP,
How much does it cost to file a police report? I don't think there's any charge at all. Just go to the local station, as someone mentioned above, and file a complaint....it's not a big deal.

If this is happening a lot with your packages, I can understand why Amazon (or any online retailer) wants you to file a police report. For one, it's to ensure that you're being truthful about it being stolen. Because, if you file a false police report, you can be convicted of a crime. Secondly, their delivery service may require a police report in order for Amazon to file a claim.

I HIGHLY suggest that you get a webcam for your door if theft is an issue! I have a Ring Video Doorbell with cloud service. It was only about $170 at Costco.....we LOVE it. we get notified whenever someone rings the doorbell or it senses motion in front of our house. And, it records it via Cloud service. If you had this, you could see who's taking your packages. Also, you can give it to Amazon/police to show that someone is stealing from you!

you know what to do. amazon told you what to do.

in case you don't want to do that. send a direct message to their investigative services. they'll supply you with a pen and complaint form and even send it off to penisland for you.
