Amazon requiring my to file a police report for a parcel I never received !!!!

1,159 604 August 3, 2017 at 08:52 PM in Chat
Hi guys ... I'm pissed at Amazon and don't know what to do ... I ordered a $19.99 item from Amazon about a month ago which got marked as 'delivered', but I never received it. I have complained like 5-6 times since then and Amazon is asking me to file a police report regarding this missing item, because they say their responsibility is over as the parcel was 'delivered'.

I've been an Amazon customer for like 8-9 years and over this time many times parcels got lost, and Amazon always replaced or refunded. Why not this time ???

I'm angry and don't know what to do. Mad

Kind of a similar story here......the Ring Video Doorbell warranties their unit against theft since it's just screwed onto the bracket outside next to the door. They will replace it for free if it's stolen for X years. HOWEVER, they also require that you just file a police report. Of course, to prevent fraudulent claims.

In that case send me $20 and get over it. Wink I'm like the OP. I don't care if it's a $.01 item I got free shipping on, if it's MIA I'm demanding to know where it is from the company that was supposed to ship me it.Big Grin

I've been in the back of the patrol car, and been innocent. There's not a lot of leg room back there.

One of the jobs I had the military police had to escort us to the bank, we sat in the back. Very very uncomfortable.

OP,
How much does it cost to file a police report? I don't think there's any charge at all. Just go to the local station, as someone mentioned above, and file a complaint....it's not a big deal.

If this is happening a lot with your packages, I can understand why Amazon (or any online retailer) wants you to file a police report. For one, it's to ensure that you're being truthful about it being stolen. Because, if you file a false police report, you can be convicted of a crime. Secondly, their delivery service may require a police report in order for Amazon to file a claim.

I HIGHLY suggest that you get a webcam for your door if theft is an issue! I have a Ring Video Doorbell with cloud service. It was only about $170 at Costco.....we LOVE it. we get notified whenever someone rings the doorbell or it senses motion in front of our house. And, it records it via Cloud service. If you had this, you could see who's taking your packages. Also, you can give it to Amazon/police to show that someone is stealing from you!
What if he orders the Ring Doorbell and it gets marked as delivered but he never gets the package? Popcorn dun dun dun

Having shorter distance between back seat and divider makes it easier to "screen" them on the ride to the station Evillaugh

Well it wasn't suppose to be a pleasant experience to begin with. Those teenager intervention programs should really include a ride in the back of a cop car.

That's when you kick out the back window(s) or divider to make some room. Wink Big Grin

Lots of departments are now removing the divider due to liability issues,
Instead the arrested person sits in the rear passenger side while a officer sits next to him behind the driver.
