Hi guys ... I'm pissed at Amazon and don't know what to do ... I ordered a $19.99 item from Amazon about a month ago which got marked as 'delivered', but I never received it. I have complained like 5-6 times since then and Amazon is asking me to file a police report regarding this missing item, because they say their responsibility is over as the parcel was 'delivered'.
I've been an Amazon customer for like 8-9 years and over this time many times parcels got lost, and Amazon always replaced or refunded. Why not this time ???
I'm angry and don't know what to do.

They really aren't that bad. I have even gotten a free ride there a few times.

How much does it cost to file a police report? I don't think there's any charge at all. Just go to the local station, as someone mentioned above, and file a complaint....it's not a big deal.
If this is happening a lot with your packages, I can understand why Amazon (or any online retailer) wants you to file a police report. For one, it's to ensure that you're being truthful about it being stolen. Because, if you file a false police report, you can be convicted of a crime. Secondly, their delivery service may require a police report in order for Amazon to file a claim.
I HIGHLY suggest that you get a webcam for your door if theft is an issue! I have a Ring Video Doorbell with cloud service. It was only about $170 at Costco.....we LOVE it. we get notified whenever someone rings the doorbell or it senses motion in front of our house. And, it records it via Cloud service. If you had this, you could see who's taking your packages. Also, you can give it to Amazon/police to show that someone is stealing from you!

Instead the arrested person sits in the rear passenger side while a officer sits next to him behind the driver.
