With due respect, that tells me that you know NOTHING about the present and potential use of Echo or the Echo Dot (Alexa).

Fun fact, if your car has wifi, you can fit an Echo Dot in the cup holder and connect it to your cars speakers through Bluetooth (or auxiliary jack).
No wifi? Use your phones hotspot, works just as well.

This is exactly what I've been waiting for. I recently installed a Nest thermostat, and wanted a few Echo Dots to enable voice control of the Nest. I was traveling during Prime Day, so I missed the deal then.

I find that google is better at some things and Alexa better at others. We use google in the car and Alexa at home. The little ones love to ask google what sounds certain animals make. The cougar was hilarious, sounded more like a person then an animal
