- Once installed, open the Amazon Assistant Browser extension on top right hand side
- Go through the tutorial and the $5 Off Offer should be available
- Redeem the offer and logged into your Amazon account

Looks to be back again with a new round of $5 off. This is YMMV. Not all accounts are eligible. You can simply install the extension and if the banner is there in the extension then you are eligible (you may have to go through their little tutorial first, then you should see the banner after). You can uninstall the extension after using your $5. The banner will be found in the same location as the screenshot I've attached. I did not grab a screenshot of it before accepting unfortunately.
Promotional value expires September 30, 2017.
I just got another free $5 credit to Amazon for having the Amazon Assistant extension installed. I've gotten the same thing multiple times now every few months. Click the banner for the deal found within the extension once you install it if you don't have it installed already. You can get this deal again even if you got it the last time around.

EDIT: For those that are having trouble, I had the deal on one computer, but it doesn't show up at all on a second computer. I am using the same Chrome profile so the extensions and everything are the same. Maybe try a different computer. Also, make sure you have deals enabled in the settings. See screenshot.
EDIT2: At least one user has confirmed using a second computer might work for those that are having trouble.

For the $5 credit to apply, you have to first search for the item(s) in the extension itself and click through the extension to add to cart on the Amazon site. The item must be sold by Amazon itself, no 3rd party sellers.

1. Use Chrome
2. Log into Amazon first <- This is the big difference between my first try and second try
3. Click through the link in OP to install the extension
4. Install the extension. Wait for a new page/tab to pop up after installation.
5. Click button on new page to enable AmazonSmile <- No idea if this matters but I clicked it anyway. Didn't do this step the first time around either.
6. Click on the extension on Chrome toolbar and go through the two-step tutorial
7. After completing tutorial, the $5 off $25 offer shows up immediately. Click it to redeem to account.
8. Go through a few web page redirects until you get the redemption success page.
9. Test by adding a >=$25 item sold by Amazon to cart (I tested on a $25 mailed gift card. Discount shows up at checkout page).
FWIW I also got this $5 off $25 the last time it FP'ed right before Prime Day, so it can definitely work for folks that got on it the last time. Just that this time around the offer might require the steps in a certain sequence before showing up.
