HDHomeRun Connect (HDHR4-2US) is designed to receive over the air ATSC. It can also receive clear QAM unencrypted digital cable TV from providers who offer this to their customers. It has 2 tuners, allowing you to access 2 channels at once.
I have the same question.

If all you care about is looking for specific shows to record, it isn't bad. But I don't like the fact that you can't easily just see what is on a specific channel either now or in the future. In fact, they complete obfuscate channels in the GUI.
However, the HDHomeRun works very well with Plex and stand alone. My only gripe is that the native app (which they finally released for IOS) won't work out of the home, even over VPN, because it uses DLNA for communication to the device and won't let you just enter in an IP.
I hooked mine up to my FiOS feed and can get a few dozen OTA channels through that.

Personally, we still have cable service (FiOS) with almost all the channels and use a Tivo, so while I did get the HDHR Connect, it was mainly just to play around with after Plex began supporting it. As I mentioned, the Plex GUI has a lot of limitations and quirks, but its also a fairly new offering that will hopefully get better with time. I have the lifetime PlexPass, so it was 'free' for me. You need PlexPass to use the LiveTV/DVR functionality. Hopefully they also start supporting other devices (Roku) for live tv soon.
