Apart from configuration Y720 has better build quality, better display, bigger battery and Thunderbolt 3 Port.
Legion Y520 is actually the budget model and comparable with Dell Inspiron gaming 7000 series with updated IPS panel. Compared to similarly priced Dell model, this model has lower capacity battery but 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD, compared to SATA III SSD in Inspiron 7000. So the storage performance would be around 3 times better in Read and at least 2 times better in write.

I heard the displays were recycled from older models and the overall quality is lesser than the Y720. Can anyone confirm or deny this? This looks really tempting.

Comparable specs to the Y720 that was on sale ~5 days ago for $909. This has 1050ti vs 1060 , this has an SSD included where the Y720 had only an SATA, but it has less processing power. Same amount of ram too. For $125 cheaper, not a bad deal depending on what games you'd try to play on it.

I've seen these in person at Costco. The build quality screams budget. Specs look great on paper but overall build and screen are straight up budget.

That Y720 deal was supreme. Don't think we will ever see as good of a deal as that, at least not for a while. Mine is waiting to be picked up at the ups store. Can't wait

Yea, about an hour after I put my order in the deal ended. Was on the fence but too good to pass up lol. I'm planning on throwing in a Samsung 960 Evo when the prices are reasonable. Maybe just a 250gb since the 500gb are 200$

The laptop is a solid laptop. I had the costco one, the NVMe SSD is faster than the ones Dell uses in their Alienware systems. The speakers in the Y520 are definitely pretty good too.

The display is the greatest weakness of this system. While it is an IPS display, it is subpar for this class of laptop and definitely isn't bright enough in my opinion. That's why I returned it.

Here is a pretty thorough review of the laptop: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Len...480.0.html

Just got mine earlier today. I'm liking it so far. Haven't had the chance to put it through anything yet but the display is surprisingly decent. I kept reading things about it that put it down. Needs some calibration but I'm satisfied so far.

Can confirm, NVMe. I'm a bit concerned though. When looking into M2 SSDs, there seems to be compatibility issues. Maybe a whitelist.
