I have this unit. Great price.

Runtime is fantastic. I have it powering my entire A/V rack and the TV. We never even know the power went out for a few minutes as we're not disrupted.

It is quite noisy when on battery power. It makes a loud buzzing/transformer noise. Reviews indicate that this is common.

Not pure sine wave, but stepped approximation to sine wave [webcollage.net]. Also the lowest price I've seen this, by far.

Sweet! I had a $150 coupon for concessions due to a delayed order shipment and my UPS literally just died this week! Yay for co-incidences and a -$50 UPS replacement.

Seems like the good deals on APC are never on Amazon. I want to buy one to see if it gets rid of electronic noise, but having to pay for return shipping and restocking fees wouldn't make it worth it... I'd rather have non-puresinewave for longitivity but I wouldn't want to waste my money and go expensive and it not help with noise if Pure sinewave will in fact help. Fml

noob Q alert.

Need an UPS to get time to safely shutdown my NAS and a future server I am planning to get. This price seems good to settle at.

1. With this 1500VA / 865w UPS, how much backup time am I looking at?
2. Is there any way to send auto shutdown commands to one or two machines when this (or any) UPS is on? So somebody donot have to manually shut down the servers?

Click Here - Line A is your Run Time vs Watt Draw [apc.com]

Your run time will vary depending on draw. My computer draws 240 watts and my monitor 56 watts, so I'm at about 300 watts, which gives me about 21 minutes of run time.

Yes, you can set it up to automatically shut off your computer after power is lost, or shut it off after a certain period of time.

You will have a hell of a decent amount of time to shut it down or remote in to initiate shutdown. You should see if your NAS can be configured to shut itself down in the event of a power outage. I have my server setup to work with the APC unit to determine when it's time to shut itself down. Excellent feature.

I personally have this unit as well as the sister unit that can be bought for it as an expansion (Amazon Warehouse deals tend to have it or eBay... make sure you're not getting a counterfeit though). Can't recommend the unit enough and love the slimmer profile of it.

Everyone buying a compact cheap UPS like this should test that it works and is compatible with your system by unplugging the UPS.

I currently have a much weaker UPS, but I've upgrade all the components to my PC and it's a beast. I plan on having the PC auto shutdown on a power outage. Is there any reason I should upgrade to this ups? (i.e. better protection of components)
