Airline prices is such a numbers game. On May 15 Delta Flight 1520 change to flight 900 in Atlanta for SJO, cost $328 RT returning May 22. If you board flight 900 for the same dates, in Atlanta, it will cost $636 for RT to SJO. Atlanta people must be twice as rich as those in Washington.

Yep, that is because the airlines wants to fill seats or competing aggressively
in the Washington-ATL segment Smilie

Sometimes I really wonder if the airlines are really gaining anything by such complex pricing algorithms and the cost to develop/tune them.
Some airline should just price based on distance flown like 5c/mile or something with a minimum amount set.

I suspect you might be confusing Costa Rica with Puerto Rico. Costa Rica is in a bit different region, hurricanes are not as much of an issue there as in the Caribbeans.

I would have jumped on this without too much thinking, but this year South East Asia it is. Guys, from San Jose to Granada Nicaragua is only 6hrs on bus and $25 each way.

It's rainy season but that's the best time to go. Usually rains in the afternoon and you have the mornings to head out. Prices for everything are nearly 50% off and you don't have to deal with all the crowds.

If you live in San Diego, CA, it's $202 roundtrip on Volaris if you leave from Tijuana, Mexico (there's a bridge from the U.S. side of the border right into the Tijuana airport; you don't have to step foot into Tijuana outside of the airport)

We liked Costa Rica.... just be aware that when renting a car online - the prices are artificially low and you will probably be charge a surcharge of $400+ per week for "government imposed" insurance regardless of your coverage. Just Google it if you are unsure. The south and mountain areas where beautiful.
