i have this receiver. good deal. unfortunately, no $25 off $250 promos running right now. and the costco customer service rep claims you can't combine any discount promo with the $25/250 promo (although i believe many people did that last year). but like all yamahas--solid deal with TWO hdmi outputs. i do believe this is the re-numbered (for costco) same thing as the RX-V781.

I've seen this in selected costcos. san francisco, santa cruz... sometimes the costco will carry the slightly lower model (with only one hdmi output). so call ahead if you want to pick up today for the same $40 off B&M

Lastly, the return warranty for this is not 30 days (for computers and electronics) but the regular general costco return policy. this is not mentioned in the fine print of the electronics 90 day policy. i've bought yamaha receivers over the last 6 years from costco and never had a problem. the most i've ever had to do is do a factory reset which fixed all the issues.

I also have this receiver and it is rock solid. I upgraded my old RX-V667 to this re-branded RX-V781 during the Christmas holiday sale (I paid $449 then) and I did a side-by-side compare of the entire spec sheet on Yamaha's website... they are the same unit.

This has been a pleasure to use on my new 65" LG OLED. No issues with signal noise or clipping in HDR. Tough to beat this unit at this price.

I just brought back the $380 Costco one after a month or so. It random would not have any sound after turning everyrthing on. I would get a picture but no sound. I turned it on and off and no dice. I found that I could get sound back by unplugging and plugging the receiver back in. I got another one but this time it was $40 off. I will say I consider this a very low end entry model

you mean the TSR-5830?

Also, I donot see much feature difference between TSR-5830 and TSR-7810 (besides 7 series having more power for driving more powerful speakers and 1 additional HDMI out).
For a simple 5.1 setup, is 5-series good or are there any other features in 7-series?

Yes, the 5830. I don't know the difference between the 2 besides the more power l, more hdmi inputs and 2 HDTV outputs

The 5830 is now $349 @ Costco for the same time period. Have a Onkyo that works ok (a few glitches), but it doesn't support HDCP 2.2 for 4k. ARRRRRRRRRRRRR, damn standards keep changing. Anyway, I had to order the 5830 as my Costcos have neither of these in stock.

It said 2-4 days on shipping. Anyone know how quick Costco gets these out?

Edit: Whoops, nevermind on the shipping. Just got an email notice. Coming from CA and will be here in two days. Not bad for free shipping.

Frankly, the TSR-7810 remains one of the best buys out there at even Costco's regular price, and the new TSR-5830 is also a solid buy.

Why in costco's photos, do they show the 5380 with an antenna on the back, that's not on the 7810. Do they not have all the same wireless capabilities?

Also, I don't know what you call this feature, but are either of these capable of being left on standby, then turns on only when they get a signal?
