Could not resist. I don't know what it is about flashlights but I keep buying them even though I have plenty already.

Anyway, thank you OP!

Just a heads up to those that ordered it. Be careful when your taking the light out of the packaging.
Don't remove the flashlight off the paper backing by simply pulling it off. Looks like Olight uses the spare o-rings to secure the light to the paper backing so be careful.

I have to question the utility of this considering that most people carry their cellphones 24x7, which are starting to carry decent LEDs on them, at least enough for EDC.

For setting next to your front and back door for use as an emergency and security light, you would want something with a bigger heatsink capacity and battery so that it can run brighter for longer, and/or something that casts a very wide super flood like these since for work you generally care more about close than 100 meter throw distance:

Nice light, but RCR123 battery selection sucks. No quality cells (Sanyo/Panasonic, Samsung, LG) in this size, so I stick with 14500 for small torches.

Better than just getting something like the Convoy S2+ and an adapter S1 tube (astrolux, etc) to fit a 18350 battery? A little bigger, but not by that much.. Plus, I'd rather have to use 18350 cells than RCR123.

EDIT: actually, while the 18350 battery is just a little bigger that a CR123a, the reflector area of the Convoy is a good bit longer, at least half an inch, probably more. Maybe even a whole inch longer altogether. Tough to be sure as they don't specify the dimensions of the flashlight. Just those of the package.

depends on the mah rating of the battery, but im looking at the manual, you get 500 lumens for 1.5 minutes and then it steps down to reduce the heat to 300 lumens which can go for 90 minutes.

I have the S1R and it's by far my favorite light:

* Magnetic tail that snaps onto the USB charging base.
* Headband makes it convenient to use. I've used it twice to pull splinters out of my son's fingers Big Grin
* Tiny! The clip keeps it from falling out of my pocket.

The S1R uses Olight's custom batteries. + and - ends on 1 end.

Cell phones are great as long as you don't lose power and don't mind waving your phone around in places where it can be damaged. With a dedicated flashlight I know I will always have a light no matter what. If i need to talk to someone on the phone and walk though a dark area, I can do it. And the level of light difference is beyond comparison. And when you need light, rarely can you have too much...

Fenix does not make cells. They re-wrap crappy chinese cells.

Useful flashlight for camping outside, I generally bought a flashlight powered by AAA batteries or 18650 rechargeable batteries, this one is powered by CR123A batteries.
