Not really...the previous deal (for which I was OP) was a 1-day shell shocker deal that expired. So this is a refreshed deal.

I ran HWiNFO 64 on the laptop and it shows:

Monitor Name (Manuf): LG Display LP156WF6-SPK1

Specs from lcd-source.com:

Panel Model
LP156WF6-SPK1

Panel Type
a-Si TFT-LCD , LCM

Panel Size
15.6 inch

Resolution
1920(RGB)×1080 , FHD

Display Mode
AH-IPS, Normally Black, Transmissive

LG states AH-IPS means:

Advanced High Performance IPS

Improved colour accuracy, increased resolution and PPI, and greater light transmission for lower power consumption.

Received mine today (from the earlier deal) and let there be no doubt...my GS63VR Stealth Pro-469 at least is definitely IPS...see the attached pic.

Just got mine and I can confirm the same!

The specs page for the 469 (https://us.msi.com/Laptop/GS63VR-...cification) had me worried, but my guess is that they've since upgraded their displays to IPS like Dell did with the XPS 15s and just didn't update their specs page.

Again, great confirmation!

Thanks for the info! That's great news! Could you check the model of the screen after you open package?

I'm reading that although this display is IPS. It only covers 45% NTSC.

LP156WF6-SPK1

Am I reading this correctly?

Sorry I've decided not to do anything with the laptop until I replace the hdd with an ssd, and besides, for now I'm only playing civ5. Really bought the MSI for the future not for civ5. Hopefully others can chime in. You can also look for youtube or other reviews.

LEDs are not a display. Think about what a LED is. They are a source of light (hence their name light-emitting diode).

LCD = Display

LED = Lighting.

Pretty much all modern LCDs uses LED lighting.
