YMMV. Seems very limited for who and what items this works. One CSR has said it was an October promotion. I did two orders earlier this week and did not get the Kohl's cash after pickup on either pickup notification emails.
Some people also said they saw the $5 promotion in blue lettering in their cart and also on their order confirmation email. If you have those then you should be able to collect if they do not send it automatically with the pickup confirmation email. Otherwise, just be prepared to make a phone call to argue for your $5.
If this is working as stated for some one then maybe they can post what item it worked on and whether the promotion was displayed on website and within their order confirmation email?

it works as long as you do a store pick up on any item. Order must be placed online
I placed 2 different orders for 2 different items via the website (not the app) for instore pickup. I picked up both orders and waited for the pickup confirmation emails. Neither pick up confirmation email included the $5 kohls cash.

Funny. I did an order in Oct with the banner and picked up in store. Never got the $5. Called CSR and they immediately issued a $5 to my Yes2rewards instead.
Then just about 15mins before this thread started, I got an email apologizing for not getting $5 back in Oct for the BOPUS and got the $5 KC email referencing that past order error.
So, I guess they just realized today, a bunch of people did not get their KC and making it right. So I wind up with $10. Worked out.
The real question is, does it work on orders placed using exclusively kohls cash? Now that would be an epic oops on kohls part and a race to see how much you could amass!

Except you have to pick up every single order in person Lol
I tried it and it won't work but I put a Fitbit in cart and then it came up with $5 Kohl's cash for pick up. I did 2 separate orders in Oct and 1 item on each order came up with this Kohl's cash and I did receive 2 different emails with the Kohl's cash after I picked up the order. The Kohl's cash expires 11/30/2017. Not sure what will happen if you return an item after receiving the $5 Kohl's cash for Pick Up.
