Don't believe it.
https://arstechnica.com/informati...-per-year/
https://arstechnica.com/informati...nsparency/
https://consumerist.com/2016/02/0...cast-bill/ (read the section about the Broadcast TV fee and Regional Sports Fee)
also good thing to point out that these are not COMCAST only fees. dish/directtv/other video providers (non ott providers of course) all have the same type of fees. each company has their own charge offsets.

comcast atleast provides more transparency of all the taxes and fees. and these do not go directly to comcast either. these are offsetting charges by the other programming companies involved. some points on those sites are not correct. not going to argue the legitimacy of the complaints. this thread has nothing to do with other services nice troll though.

I have the same question but if past experiences are any indication, people got screwed when activating their $1 LG phones because they received them after the offer date. You can look in the old xfinity thread. I believe this could be on purpose to restrict the discount on the iPhone X.
as long as order placed by 12/4 you will qualify.

the $1 lg phones still only charged the amount as agreed when order placed.

so that makes any of these phones lose a ton of value when you sell the phone in a few years. Any suggestions on how to sell one of these when upgrading to another phone in 2 years? You mentioned another xm account couldn't use it so that means the phone is useless. Or did i miss something?
no different than any other phone you acquire from any other provider. the point of a phone being setup for a certain carrier is that the person acquiring the phone- can usually use as byod with the provider or use as a backup if main phone no longer works. byod isnt an option with xm right now. eventually it might be. unlocked phones have never guarenteed full service with a different provider.

most people trade in the phone when upgrading and the companies involved do what they do.

just opening the phone from a case drops the value 'a ton' like any other retail item.

the ultimate point of xm and how they handle the promos is NOT to have customers purchase a phone and sell them right off the bat, untouched. clearly xm is meant to save you money on cell phone bills and enjoy near exceptional service (service speaks for itself). there are very few saying the billing is not saving them money or the service is crap.

Please don't use a straw man argument to call me a troll. The response I posted was directly refuting the claim that the "Broadcast TV" fee and the "Regional Sports" fee were the result of "gov't regulation". This is clearly untrue and the links I posted were only posted to explain that those two fees were not the result of anything related to the government.

You either clearly have an ulterior motive protecting your deal against attacks which do not exist (I never made any claim that the other providers don't "have the same type of fees"), or you don't know what you're talking about.

Suffice to say, my point from the beginning was that when you have Comcast internet, the advertised price is just about what you pay, e.g. $50 internet is about $50 but when you have Comcast Double Play, the advertised price is at least $10 lower than the price you pay because of those two fees.

trolling is as trolling does.

this thread is about the xm deal only.

not about regular service pricing or anything along those lines. does you posting your comments with links have anything to do with xm? nope. ergo troll elsewhere.

clearly you are off topic. called out on it. and got defensive.

i am fighting facts with facts.

I asked about those. She said they are the result of gov't regulation and not something the company has a say in. I believe it.

Already looking forward to canceling cable next year...
off topic. troll elsewhere. this thread has nothing to do with regular services or anything involved in the pricing or fees with them. stay on topic or troll elsewhere.

good to know. and i'm not planning on selling this quickly by any means. but usually 2-3 years i upgrade my phone and seel the old one on my own, which is always more money than trading it in. So if it was an xm phone that only could be used by the original purchaser, not even to another xm user as one post suggested, then the phone is worthless when you're done. that would have been a major drag.

by then xm should have a byod program in place like others.

im going by what the tech group has passed along to us. one would usually trust that as opposed to random guesswork or people randomly posting about it.

looking and self-research really shows that unlocked phones are 50/50 as far as opening all bands for other service carriers. possible though.

sim workaround threads indicate that certain bands are still restricted as well. adding additional info as we have been informed.

mobile dept can do it manually since they have the same access to do so. if a loyalty agent applies the promo but then the customer places order online or via store or other dept they will not qualify. thats strictly from the internal info.

they cant guarentee in 90 days they will get their gift card regardless. id personally not leave it up to chance.
Hmm that's a little concerning. For those of this who signed up this way is there anyway for us to confirm whether the promotion has been applied?

Thanks op. I just ordered a s8. To confirm that you get $500, login to your comcast account, click Setting -> Legal Agreements & Contract you will see $500 Prepaid Card included when Xfinity Mobile is Activated

Check your account to see if they applied the rebate.

So you can have only one xm account associated with your Comcast internet service? I previously signed up a xm account for my son. Can I do it for a different person in the household?

Just got both gift cards today. What a deal. Basically a new Samsung S8 for nearly free as you can apply the gift cards to your balance when you get them. I just called to cancel cable and gave them a story about cable, internet, and phone costing too much. She gave me options to reduce my cable so I had to lead into "any deals to switch to mobile?" That's when she brought up the $500. Easy peasy from there.

I can see the $200 offer in account Setting -> Legal Agreements & Contract , but not the $500, maybe I haven't activated my phone yet (still in transit)

Odd. It's opposite for me. I haven't activated my phone either.

Is anyone seeing both offers under legal agreements and contract?
