This is actually a solid shoe...I have the waterproof version and enjoy it.

edit: I use mine for disc golf if that helps anybody. actually has a really good outsole, which is an issue with the wear and tear disc golf puts on shoes.

I don't think they are waterproof. These AX2's are: https://www.adidas.com/us/ax2-cli...A9253.html

So for ACTUAL waterproof shoes, use that AX2 Climaproof link above and code CWLS17ADP for $39.29, plus tax. Free shipping. Thanks to tswillcox for the code.

I'm torn between the TERREX Swift R GTX and the AX2 ClimaProof. Does anyone have any wisdom to impart here?
So these were the two that I was torn between also. I ended up getting the TERREX Swift R GTX though.

First, I knew I was going to get elastic laces anyways, so this cut down on an extra thing I would have to buy and an extra thing to increase the cost of the AX2.

Second, a lot of my co workers are happy with GORE-TEX stuff have been really happy with it. Never had anything with GORE-TEX so figured this was a good opportunity.

Finally, I liked the overall look/design of this one!

Would these waterproof ones be good for wading and walking on slippery/jagged rocks like for fishing ?
These would be better in situations where you're walking in precipitation wearing pants. My problem with waterproof shoes is that they're only good as long as water isn't deeper than the 'cuff' of the shoe, so maybe a couple inches for these. I have waterproof boots where the opening is significantly higher than these, and I still have to be cautious that I don't step someplace too deep when crossing streams or walking around rocks. Once water gets inside, it actually takes longer to dry than a non-waterproof shoe since the waterproofing works both ways.

That makes sense! I'm actually not a fan of elastic laces, so that may tip it the other direction for me. I do also prefer the look of the AX2. : P

I've had a few sets of New Balance where the laces would come undone multiple times a day. Search for Elastic Laces on amazon. I'll never go back. For me, the laces outlast the shoe.
Can you link to the ones you like the most? I searched and there are a lot of styles and varieties. I'd like to get what you've been using. Thanks.

Are these "hikiing" shoes mostly for hiking? That is, are these shoes comfortable for walking in the mall, in the park with my kids, etc. Or would tennis, running, basketball shoes be more comfortable for everyday wear?

These have features intended for hiking, or at least being outdoors (grippy, waterproof, etc.). You could still totally wear them for your needs, but you may be able to find other shoes perfectly suitable for that at a better price, or maybe in a style you like more.

For those with pre-existing Sears accounts, log in and see how much in FreeCash you've been given. I haven't shopped with Sears in over a year yet got emails saying my FREECASH as they call it was expiring... I had $27 in freecash, i paid $0 and have a completely free pair of Reeboks arriving tomorrow. (Free Shipping over $25 on shoes)

The amount you get in freecash will vary

Are these available in store to check out?

I braved my local Phoenix Costco partially for that reason, and they were not available in store.

I wouldn't recommend going to Costco right now. Wait at least until the weekdays next week if you can. I think I nearly died.

Can anyone comment on waterproof vs not for this shoe?

For example I run with Brooks. Briefly tried switching to their Gore-Tex version and hated it, way to warm within 10 minutes and they went back.
