I liked this a bit better than the Walmart deal. Slightly slower CPU, but SSD,1x8GB (versus 2x4GB), 500w power supply, reasonable starter-quality keyboard and mouse, no tax, and free home shipping. All that was worth the extra $100 list to me.

Good analysis.

I got the Walmart one in store and basically lost time/stress, didn't realize it's 2x4gb and no 128gb ssd ($30ish value?) + Tax smh. But got 5% back with chase to soften the blow a little bit and got my item immediately. Being poor sucks 🤣

That was a good deal too at that price, and you can always do some upgrades down the road if you feel like it.

The SSD and 1060 gfx card make this a standout offer.

If you're looking for a faster and one generation newer processor, comparable gfx card, cheaper price, and got a spare SSD lying around, check out the Cyberpower deal on Amazon

I also took a long look at that one. After considering tax and the difference in rewards it was basically the same price, but I decided I would rather have the SSD (and also an optical drive and card reader) over the newer processor. But I agree you could go either way.

Ironically, I'm considering the same difference to purchase for my parents, whose desktop is about 6 years old. Tired of mom complaining about why her bleepin' computer is so slow for her couponing...

I was also buying this as an upgrade device, for an 11 year old who would be using it for homework and such in addition to gaming. If you were just looking for a gaming desktop, and particularly were willing to upgrade some parts, you might not pick this one. But this does have a lot of appeal if you just want something someone can open up, plug in, and be good to go for an all-around-useful desktop.

Exactly. The ease of use out of the box factor likely overrides the two generation old processor for non-gamers.
