Would it make sense for me to return the HP Walmart black friday gaming PC and get this.

Differences I see is this one has beefier video card and power supply. But Walmart BF deal has newer i5 processor.

If you are talking about the one with the 1060 GTX, then I don't think so. The 1060 is on par with the 970, from what I can tell (at least on passmark, it is slightly better).

I bought this a couple months back and dropped it into a nzxt case. Added a SSD last month a new motherboard this week. It was a cheap way to soft step in to doing builds again. I know I could have just done a build from scratch but I wanted to have a usable system to game on while I worked on it. Mine is the 970 it can game in 4k @ 30 fps high setting for Doom And 1080p I'm limited by my 60hertz monitor. Haven't found a game yet I can't game at high settings 1080 60fps. Biggest stresser has been rise of the tomb raider.

this gpu is easily worth 150, so this is just standard price for a non-gpu pc
