Perhaps it doesn't matter if someone ordinarily shops at Office Depot/Max anyway and will use the rewards easily, but aren't these prices of the binders absurdly high?

Yeah if you compare to like Walmart? The thing is you get money you spend on binders back, and can buy other stuff with it like postage stamps, clearance items, etc which makes these binders almost free.

Maybe, but if you buy 2 for $12 and then recycle 10 ink cartridges, you will get $32 in rewards ($12 for binders, $20 for ink recycling). Not bad for $12, even better if you are like me and need the binders.

Gift cards and Rewards certificates are not the same. The Rewards system can and does differentiate between the two.

I agree. Target has Avery binders with a 'slant' ring for $4 depending on with size. 1-1.5 is attend $3.99, 2 inch is $4.39. that's is almost half the cost of binders at office Depot
