Posting from the hospital bed with the lil' one on my lap. She arrived early this morning -- 8 lbs even, 21" long. She's absolutely beautiful and we are in love with her!

We almost ended up with a c-section because her big head was having trouble fitting through my pelvis. They decided to try forceps and once they got her down a bit with them, her heart rate dropped super low. So the doctor had to yank super hard and I had to push super hard to get her out alive. She wasn't breathing when they first got her out, and the cord was wrapped around her neck twice. Her first apgar test score was a 2, but then she perked up and her second was a 9. I ended up with a third-degree episiotomy Bigeye but I'm relieved that I was able to deliver vaginally, and so grateful she's alive!

I'll post some pics soon. heart
Omg congrats Norge!!!! That's amazing!!! I'm so happy for you!

Welcome to the sleepless nights club (Bargoon got kicked out since baby M sleeps 9 hrs at night Annoyed Roll)
M sleeps?! Omg I'm jealous! Sometimes I ask Lillian if she's trying to be like the girl from the Ring that never sleeps!!! She was awake and pissed off almost all day yesterday Frown

Okay, I need to know what are the degrees of tears? Are you actually split open or did the doc cut? I have had it both ways, a small tear and a cut but never heard it phrased like that.
I had a 3rd degree epi with my first. I was cut almost to my anus. Rayanna only weighed 6lbs though so I'm not sure why he did that though. I have scar tissue there as well because I didn't heal up properly. With my second I had "skid marks" just tiny tears on the inside. With Lillian I had a 1 cm tear and that was it. No pain at all. I was just taking motrin for the pain. That was it.

Quote from BrgnHntr View quoted comment :
Wow, she looks so much like you! Congrats!

Teehee 10 hours last night and I finally had to wake her up to go to church.

An episiotomy is a cut, a tear is just called a tear.

from pregnancy.about.com [about.com]

Episiotomies are measured in degrees -- the most common being a 2nd degree (midway between the vagina and the anus) and the least common being a 4th degree (Extending through the rectum, called the episiorectoprotomy). There are also different types of episiotomy. The midline is the most common in the USA (it extends directly towards the anus), and the mediolateral is a diagonal cut toward either side to prevent tearing into the rectum.
Bargoon I'm totally green with envy! I wish Lillian slept at night, hell anytime for that matter. She wakes up about 2 times a night for feedings. Getting used to being back at work has been hard! By the time I made it to the weekend I thought I was going to die I was so tired!

Maddy's asleep in her crib for the first time. And I'm sitting here nervous wanting to go check on her all the time. Blush I promised myself I wouldn't be an overbearing parent like this...

LMAO you freaking suck! LMAO Seriously, she's gonna sleep all night anyway. Roll

LJ was better last night only 2 feedings ans 1 fussy time that daddy took care of. I seriously have forgotten what uninterrupted sleep is like. I have visions of this child waking up all night until he's 18. Then he can find a wife and it'll be her problem. Rofl2

Yeah, she slept 10 hours last night. Hide Please don't hurt me! Roll

She got waaaay to used to all the attention on our trip, though. I got almost nothing done yesterday because miss fussy buns screamed if she wasn't being paid attention to.

wow 10 hours, how old is she? I had some good sleepers too, Emmi isn't too bad. She is 5 weeks and BF and only wakes up for one feeding a nite then after the morning feeding, we take another mini-nap depending on DS#4 and if the others are around.

All the more reason for your mom and dad to move back pronto!

Family got into town tonight and I stopped by mom and dad's for a quick visit (walked all the way across my lawn to their house Roll) and my sister told me her 22 month old takes 2-3 hour naps and sleeps 12 hours a night. My other sister (who is due in April) says, "Geeeeeesh, ya don't have to rub it in!!" laugh out loud

We put LJ down for the night at 8:30 and he's already woken up twice. First time I was able to pop his Nuk back in second time he nursed and went right back to sleep. Mind you it is only 11...it's gonna be another long night. Getting him down for the night and naps isn't hard. He goes down drowsy and falls asleep on his own. It's the keeping him asleep for more than 1 sleep cycle that we can't figure out! Thank goodness he's never had his days and nights mixed up! He's always been very easy to get back to sleep, but lemme tell you, this shit is getting old!

Sorry I've been slacking on the pics. They're coming, I promise! This lil one keeps us pretty busy! She's a good sleeper and eater, though, and a really content baby. Had my first bm today and thought I was going to die. Other than that, the pain really hasn't been all that bad. Although I am hyped up on pain pills still... Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Norge, sorry about the almost dying part. Comfort The first BM after a tear or episiotomy makes labor seems like a cake walk. Comfort

Last night was LJ's WORST night yet. He was up fussing and crying every hour on the hour. I'm going to talk to DH about trying Alimentum (hypersensitive formula) for 2 weeks and see how the little guy reacts. I'm going to continue to pump to keep up production, but have a feeling that after 2 weeks of bottles he won't go back to the breast. This makes me so sad, but LJ had streaks of blood in his dipe 2 days this past week(just like when I was drinking milk) and has had very fussy nights. I've already cut out dairy and now soy and have no idea what the culperate is now. Sadwalk I just worry that his little intestines will have long term damage and that he will have long term food allergies if I continue. Mini was a piece of cake and we never had these types of issues with her. Yeah, I'm pretty sad at the thought of not BFing him anymore, but if it's hurting him, then we gotta do something else. Frown

So DH and I are up for the day (at 6:30) and the lil stinker is back asleep.

PS We did discuss it before the births of our baby girls though, since technically I stole the name idea from her Big Grin

DH is adamantly against it Angry he wants me to log everything I eat. Ummm dear we've tried trial and error. I would never forgive myself if he grew up and had food allergies still or tummy troubles. Alimentum is a hypoallergenic formula. Yes it's not breastmilk but it doesn't have the milk protein or other foods that LJ is sensitive to. I don't know what to do Weeping Wait I got it Smack
