Nice - more batteries! At least it's not more paper.

In a retail monetary system, an office depot dollar is probably worth 40 cents! Do people even look at purchasing power when they start getting excited about rewards money?!

In a retail monetary system? If you are that smart why are you shopping on slickdeals? Even if what you say is true about the 40 cents on a dollar (I would put it more like 60 cents on the dollar) it would lower each battery to 60 cents. The lowest I could find on amazon was a 40 pack for 29.87 so 75 cents each. With my monetary system judgement, it would be more like 40 cents each.

If people feel good about doing rewards let them. It does save money, especially if you shop the store a lot.

Cause you can get a 32 pack of Duracell batteries for 20-25 dollars. So why would you buy 16 at an inflated price to be able to get rewards that don't stretch as much as other stores?

My beef is not against deals? Its against 100% back rewards at stores that already over inflate prices. Diminishes the value of the rewards.

here is the math, if you spend all your money on buying more batteries with the reward (tax not included):

Office Depot $16 for 16, with $16 back in rewards that is used to buy another 16 batteries =
= 32 batteries for the price of $16 (cost per single battery $0.52)

Costco currently is selling 40 pack for $13 making it (cost per single battery $0.33)

Costco deal is better if you have a Costco membership, no need to deal with paperwork or rewards, no need to pay double tax, no need to deal with almost defunct company, if battery fail before EOL take them back get full refund . . .

If you don't have a Costco membership, you can get HF brand batteries for free at HF

You forgot to factor in the second rewards you get from second batteries order which was done using the points from first battery order.

example:
1st order: batteries using my CC: $16+tax
get $16 points
2nd order: batteries using point: $16 + tax(my CC)
get $16 points
3rd order: use $16 points for batteries?

Last year along with 20% off coupon and this offer I got 32 batteries+ Samsonite neck pillow + Samsonite travel plug for $14 only.

so this deal is not as slick as last year but slick itself

I have been rolling this for a while. But my last two purchases where I used my Rewards, I did not get my Reward Certificate. So I don't know if they have tightened up on use of Rewards to pay for the batteries.

Yep. If you want battery leakage in your remotes and flashlights, these will get the job done.
