Someone has gotten a little high on their own product. Expect a price reduction on this item when Ring wakes up to the consumer response. $400 is a joke.
I guess this doorbell is good if you currently have a PoE camera and are trying to merge it with your doorbell. But yeah, this is not for your average consumer, it requires professional installation.
In the professional automation market, $400 is very good for a 1080p Doorbell with POE/WiFi and flushmount in a one gang pre-wire box. Doorbird is good, but exact same price point and doesn't flush mount. Only downfall for us is that it doesn't integrate (video at least) with Control4. The control4 doorstation that does the exact same thing (and integrates with Control4) is like $2,000.
Obviously the customer spending $2k on a Video Doorbell is not the customer that the original RING is trying to reach. This thing is more in line with the Doorbird than the other Ring models. If someone can do without flushmount - obviously go with the cheaper ring.
