Would you allow your children to go on a slumber party?

9 14 December 26, 2017 at 12:48 AM
Hi guys! Given the current situation of our society nowadays, would you still allow your children go to slumber parties? I have experienced it before and of course, as a grown-up teenager, it was all fun. But nowadays.... I have some reservations about it. What are your thoughts on this?

I think he's wondering if he should be one of those annoying paranoid parents that all of society has to deal with these days..
I'm pushing 60. I don't remember my parents even knowing if I was even in the house. Most of the time they could care less what I did,as long as I did my chores. I remember when I was really young my job was to burn the trash which I loved to do. My mom used a lot of Aqua Net back then. Those giant empty hair spray cans would sound like a bomb going off when they exploded.

If you trust your child and the parents who are hosting the party, then I don't see any problem. Slumber parties are a fun part of childhood.

Definitely not. They need to be surrounded in bubble wrap and parked in a safe space until it is time to ship them off to college where they will be injected with the final doses of indoctrination so they can enter the real world as fully-grown infants needing and expecting the government to take care of all of their needs.

No sense in exposing them to situations where they might be forced to make smart choices on their own.

I remember sleeping over at a friends house when i was i think 9 or 10. His mother put us both in his sister's full size bed. I remember his father surprised us, and came in right before he turned out the lights and tickled the shit out of his 10 year old. Even at my age I thought that was weird. Looking back i remember the father was a musician, so that probably explains this strangeness.

The world is a safer place now then it was back when you were a kid. The difference is that we didn't have the internet to notify us when some obscure horrible thing happened.

My kids have slumber parties at my house all the time and I have no issues with sending them to slumber parties.

What has happened to scare you into thinking slumber parties are a bad idea?

I don't think that is strange at all. Is there a cutoff age for tickling that I wasn't informed about?
