Ive really fallen off the wagon the last few weeks. I wrote I was starting to get back on it again but since then Ive cheated a few times with beer, hot dogs and pizza. Not good. Even then its probably way lower than the average persons diet since I rarely eat anything else except for some veggies and fruit. I cheated only about one meal every few days. It still put me in reverse a slight bit.
I'm ready again to start a stringent diet again and descend into really lean territory.
My sleeping has really deteriorated again which has me wondering. Was it the caffeine or the St Johns Wort? I mention the latter because I had the emergence of a normal bio clock the first time in my entire life when I tried taking Prozac for 2 months for the heck of it for ADD. When I first started my stringent diet I was surprised to see it had the same effect which I blamed on my caffeine intake. It probably was due to caffeine to a large extent since Ive been drinking Coke and Pepsi off and on.
However I now think it may be a combination of that and the fact I took St Johns Wort which is an anti-depressant which I stopped doing a few weeks ago around the time my sleep started slowly deteriorating again. I have no idea if it has the same effect for others since they probably dont have the same problem I do and Ive never heard anyone else post they had the dramatic restoration of normal sleep patterns with Prozac. With me its dramatic, I suddenly cant stay awake past 10-11pm and wake up very early like some clock is ticking in my brain which is a bizarre contrast to my lifestyle where I seem to have NO bioclock at all.
Im going to try taking St Johns Wort again but Im paranoid about the photosensitivity warnings -- the fact it makes you more susceptible supposedly to the damaging effects of sunlight.
I stumbled a few times maintaining this lifestyle, but in March of '08 I got serious and stayed serious and haven't looked back. I still eat "bad" daily, but I limit how much bad I eat. If I have a day where I really go overboard and gain some weight, then I cut back a bit for a few days and increased my workout a bit. In the end, while I may not have enjoyed it, I'm glad I stuck to it.
Now being at basically an ideal weight (and having to get a tummy tuck hopefully next year after saving the money for it...damn excess skin :p ), I'm just working on "fleshing out" the muscles moreso and just eating what helped me. I eat smaller meals (relatively) but more frequently. I could go into what I usually eat most days but I'd rather not drag it out further.
Being diagnosed with Celiac officially in April this year, it pretty much made it so I have little choice but to maintain the lifestyle I already had started. I'm not complaining though. I don't want to go back to my old self. I can't even see myself doing it because I'm so used to loving fruit/veggies now and keeping the "bad" in but in smaller doses.
A broken heart really is not a bad diet. Now that I've lost that small amount, I'm 10000x more motivated to keep going.
I've been zumba-ing every day, sometimes 2x a day. My eating habits are still those of a broken hearted girl (yeah i baked a cake today, and yeah i love ben & jerry), but I'm slowly trying to fix those too.
Another thing which is helpful is a big loss early on. Its hard enough getting motivation and its even harder when the losses are glacial though it might be dangerous to lose weight quickly and also self-defeating as tons of people have posted since you metabolism can shift to a lower level.
Thats amazing you kept with it , the stats are dismal supposedly for dieters in the long term. After a really rocky few weeks and claims I was getting back on the wagon , at least today Ive eaten a banana, scraps of veggies and a little coke and water. The latter was a big mistake since Ive really deteriorating in my sleeping habits again and one of the reasons is I started drinking coke again especially coke zero which I think has more caffeine. Im going to get more SJW today since theres a sale at Walgreens 2 for 1 and Im going to cut way back or eliminate coke again. I was drinking caffeine free coke for a while to try to avoid the blandness of just drinking OJ and water all the time.
I seem to be keeping on the losing 1-2 pounds a week thing. certainly not fast, but i'm headed in the right direction. still looking for ways to up my excersizing, I did do 30 minutes of biking today, I'm actually not sure if that's the same or less calories than walking for 30 minutes
p.s. the trauma diet is right up there with the infectious diseases diet... some random african/asian bug that nearly kills you does a wonder for weightloss, although harder than the emotional trauma diet...

One thing Im confused on , there were articles claiming they found out out what really caused lung cancer from smoking cigarettes. The answer? Hydrogen peroxide.
Its been hyped in other articles. So if hydrogen peroxide exposure causes cells to become cancerous how come there isnt a wave of scares associated with hydrogen peroxide? In fact its been widely hyped by the fringe health nut community as a cure-all. The really fringe people tell you to drink it and that it cures cancer. Some dentists were pushing a baking soda plus hydrogen peroxide combo to kill germs in your mouth and neutralize the acids. I was gargling with the stuff because of that.

Im also paranoid about second hand smoke now. I never thought of it before but several neighbors smoke and I smell it almost 24 hrs a day. They smoke at all hours of the night and day. A guy below me smokes it comes up to my bedroom and various people smoke outside on the walkway , its always in the air.

I feel like getting some air filter but Im not sure if that would actually have any effect at all.

as for the smoking things, unless you are in closed quarters with someone directly blowing smoke into your face for at least 6 cigarettes to worry about second hand smoke. i wouldn't worry about your neighbors smoke as a cancer risk while its lingering in the air, while it might be an inconvenience.
there's a better chance if either you smoke yourself, or if you're in a small bar without the windows open for long periods of time for several times a week.
there are several toxic chemicals in cigarettes, news stories broadcast a new study that shows a link between chemical x and diagnosis y. yes hydrogen peroxide is toxic if actually ingested, but in small doses in cigarette form, along with nicotine, cyanide, etc, they all pose some risk, but it is not an entire cause, nor should you be paranoid about it. they all seem logical, but none are actually proven, despite the statistics they use so be cautious.
as for the diet shot, yes it works and yes its safe, but please talk to a doctor before you use it or consider it since the extra intake of hormones reacts in everyone's bodies differently. plus its expensive enough that you need to do your research before you consider it.
HCG advocates claim that the hormone makes it safe to eat just 500 calories a day, but legitimate physicians and dieticians think that a 500 calorie/day deficit is the maximum an overweight person should sustain in the long term (more than 2-4 weeks).

I was actually looking at some fans. People have claimed using some 3M filters which are for your air con/heating unit will work with a box fan. Theres actually box fans that have a frame to install these generic filters. Alternatively, people have just duct taped these filters onto a box fan. You can get a box fan for 10-20 bucks. The "special" Lasko fan is around 38-48 bucks and it looks like a plain box fan with a frame that takes a 3M filter. They claim this will filter various thiings out of the air including some stuff in cigarette smoke.
Though my mind is open most of the stuff in the diet field is pretty bogus. However, I dont discount the importance of placebos/delusions in helping you diet. If you believe it works it can give you a bit of motivation to stick with the diet. Its like having a magic coin that takes weight off. Of course thats silly but if that motivates you to also stick with the Magic Coin diet which is low in calories, then its having a beneficial psychological effect to help you stick to a low cal diet.
The main objections I have to such delusions is if the firm selling such a thing has an exhorbitant markup, making huge sleazy profits off such a bogus thing. A magic coin diet is OK if the cost is very low. The other thing obviously is if its dangerous then of course people shouldnt follow it.
