Rec tec pellet smoker, free shipping up to $170 savings

http://www.rectecgrills.com/rec-t...ll-rt-680/ $998 shipped no tax for most, they used to always charge 170 for shipping with no available discounts since they started a few years ago

this is a very well reviewed pellet smoker with a 6 year warranty, readily available replacement parts, and a cult following due to their legendary customer service. I've been looking for a deal on one for the past 3 months and couldn't find any history of coupon codes or price drops in the past. they just updated their website and prices on some items and to my surprise they had free shipping which normally costs 170, they've never historically offered any item or shipping discount on any units.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Oh boy.

As a side note, my manager has a RecTec and highly recommends it.

IMO best bang for the buck pellet smoker is the Pit Boss 820 Deluxe at Academy.com

that looks really nice. i have the pitboss 700fb that i got on clearance for $120, added a PID controller for another $100 (not sure the PID is worth it yet), also got a smoke tube for $11 from amazon, that i haven't used yet since pellets don't produce a lot of smoke

i've only heard good things about rectec and that you get more for your dollar than you would when buying a traegar

I agree, but $170 is obviously not the price.

Also notice that the rec tec mini(RT-300) is no longer part of the site. Might be part of their new pricing and line of products.

As many people do, I have the traeger and I love cooking on it. Pellets really are easy to use and the food is fantastic! (And now my wife does great bbq!)
With that said, I do not love the quality of the traeger. I have heard great things about the red tec and wish I would have gone that route instead, although $800 for the large traeger at Costco is tough to beat. I guess it will depend on how long my current traeger lasts.
I think I'd go with a better built, American made unit if I was to buy another. Or build my own using parts from existing companies- just the controls and the auger is all that would be difficult to make, everything else would be metal work.
If you are on the fence about one of these, get one-be it rec tec or another. You will not regret a pellet smoker.
Just my thoughts from owning a traeger for the past 4 years.

None of the above posts talking about the price actually quote any pricing. The link takes you to a $1000 model Fyi.
