ok so assume i know what POE is already, can someone explain what this does? Does it simply inject power? is it essentially a 2 port "switch" - just trying to figure out why it is called an "adapter"
This is just an Injector. AC power on the other end. One jack is LAN (input), other jack is POE (output). All it does is add power to an existing connection.

POE stands for power over ethernet. Some devices are powered straight from the Ethernet cable. If the other end of the Ethernet cable isn't a POE "supplier", you use an injector that adds power to the cable
