Looks like target will be bringing back a popular former front page deal this upcoming Sunday. It is a $300 gift card with purchase of a pixel 2 xl ($200 for regular pixel 2), which I believe will mesh with Verizon's deal that will get you $300 back via account credits over 24 months when purchased via dpp.

Contains a lot of information relevant for Verizon and non-Verizon customers. During that deal, the two promotions stacked. Q: Do I get the $300 credit immediately?
A: No. The $300 credit is applied via 24 monthly bill credits over the next two years. Each credit will be $12.50. You must enter into a device purchase plan to get the credit, so you can basically plan to take $12.50 off the quoted monthly price of whatever device you choose.
Q: The Target people don't seem to know about the $300 credit. Will I still get it?
A: The Target Mobile associates don't technically work for Target or Verizon. They are staffed by third-party providers who specialize in mobile devices/services. Cancellation of Service and Keep the Gift Card
I did this during the Iphone Black Friday deal and it's very easy.. Here are the steps
1 - signup with target and get gift card if you can put the down payment almost full and leave $50 or something and use red card you get 5% off on the down payment. If you don't have the target red card you can apply there itself for debit or credit..to open a Target Red Card Debit you need a check.
2 - next day morning go to Verizon corporate store only with $50 cash as they accept cash only and ask to pay off.. they will give receipt
3 - come home get online Verizon chat not phone chat is much better and easier.. and ask to cancel and you can cancel.. and also during chat confirm that you are cancelling under 3 days and no charges and they will confirm that and keep a copy of the chat transcript just for reference.
That's it..
I still got the bill after few days and I got online again in chat and they made credits .. and made bill "0".

Just to add to the above cancellation process. It can be difficult to get hold of a Verizon agent who can cancel the account through CHAT.
And it is especially difficult if you haven't activated the sim card with a test call and/or registered your cell number on Verizon's website. My Target Tech did not make the test call and I did not register on the Verizon site.
That said, make sure you have the PIN number which is assigned to your account when you call to cancel. The Verizon agent will try to talk you into staying with their service, my agent was pleasant and understanding.

- Searched nearby targets for Pixel availability but only found Pixel white 64GB (not XL) available at nearby target. Deal is I will get $200 target GC after purchase of the phone. Reserved the phone online with all the details (SSN.Address and Plan etc.)
- Received email in 30mins that order is ready to pick up.
- Went to the store, Got my order pulled up by rep.
- During activation, rep could not find my order on Verizon website (weird). He called Verizon rep and suggested to restart the whole process.
- New order went through and got my number ported successfully.
- Chose 4G plan with no down payment. Total per month is Line access $20 + $50 for 4G + DPP $27.24 + taxes. One time activation fees is $30. Taxes on device is ~$60 paid at Target (depending on location).
- Got $200 GC from Target, asked rep to split them into smaller denominations. He talked with manager and gave me smaller denominations GC (6x$30 + 1x$20).
- Came home, called Verizon customer care and asked about Pixel offer. Rep confirmed the offer on the account and enabled the offer immediately in next bill, so that I don't have to wait 2-3 billing cycles (Proof is below). She can't apply to current bill as it was generated already. Asked Rep to waive off activation fees, but she mentioned that she can't waive it but offered me 20% credit ($6) effective immediately. I asked her about how to confirm the Pixel offer, she mentioned to go to Next bill summary [verizonwireless.com] go to Monthly charges and expand device details, there is item for "Device Promotional Credit". For my case it was $100 bill credit so roughly it was $4 per month for next 24 month.

- Searched nearby targets for Pixel availability but only found Pixel white 64GB (not XL) available at nearby target. Deal is I will get $200 target GC after purchase of the phone. Reserved the phone online with all the details (SSN.Address and Plan etc.)
- Received email in 30mins that order is ready to pick up.
- Went to the store, Got my order pulled up by rep.
- During activation, rep could not find my order on Verizon website (weird). He called Verizon rep and suggested to restart the whole process.
- New order went through and got my number ported successfully.
- Chose 4G plan with no down payment. Total per month is Line access $20 + $50 for 4G + DPP $27.24 + taxes. One time activation fees is $30. Taxes on device is ~$60 paid at Target (depending on location).
- Got $200 GC from Target, asked rep to split them into smaller denominations. He talked with manager and gave me smaller denominations GC (6x$30 + 1x$20).

Guys I was able to pay off the balance 1 day after opening the account by going to a Verizon wireless store. You have to pay in cash. It doesn't work in the authorized retailer. Now I'm going to chat and ask to close my account tonight.
Tldr: you can pay off your Verizon balance immediately in cash at a Verizon store (NO authorized retailer )
I've been on the fence. Without the $300 in credits, this was not a slickdeal for me. I realize the gift card alone was enough for some. With so many pages in this post I am sure I missed some other confirmations, but thank you again. Heading to a Target first thing tomorrow to make it happen.
Unlike others here, our goal would probably be to stay on VZW the entire 2 years as that's what we had previously and were more than happy with our service. We had a corporate discount and with the Medium data plan I think we paid like $80 or less per month for two lines. I've been waiting for an offer to come back and cash in and this may be it depending on how the answer to my question comes back.
