Yes they are, I purchased this on last promo on neweggflash a month ago and only included four cameras, 2x 4mp and 2x 2mp. It just takes regular ethernet cable and it delivers both power and data through it and connects hardwired into the box. I've got it set up and really enjoy it. You can definitely tell a big difference in resolution between a 4 megapixel and 2 megapixel one.

1) WD purple or Seagate skyhawk for a surveillance system rated HDD
2) NAS rated HDD used to be preferred before surveillance rated HDD were introduced, so that may work well as an alternative
Of course, if you have a SATA HDD already available that would be worth seeing how well it works if you're on a tight budget.

So all cameras have to be connected to the box? How do you avoid having wires all over the house?
You have to run the wires through walls and what not. Probably best to have less wires and not one HDD to be dependent on. Burglar steals HDD and you're out of luck

Can I purchase this LaView and use the cameras for my current (Q-see) system since they are both IP NVR? Please advise. Thank you!
Hi Skyway
Better to keep the Q-see NVR connected to Dahua OEM cameras.
The LaView kit here is a Hikvision OEM product, and while the cameras are ONVIF compliant iirc and should work with the Q-see NVR at least on the basics - the more advanced IVA features probably will not work. ( I'd have to check if that Q-see NVR supports the IVA or IVS features as Dahua calls it - I do know that the 4K Q-see kit did list that )
For $200 for 2 cameras - I would look at the Dahua OEM starlight HDW42xx model and get 2 of those and use them for locations which need better low light cameras. Granted you probably would have some additional configuration work, however the results will be worth it.
Look at reolink on Amazon. i purchased both for different locations and prefer the reolink for the better angles, apps and customer support. Also adding Additional cameras is cheap! $65 per additional 4mp camera.

Pass the cable through the attic or basement and then down or up the walls to your locations.

1300 vs 380
Not apples to apples
