Truly a classic. Started with the original AOE then AOE2 then Conquerors.

Lately I've been playing the HD version on STEAM. Will have to this one. Price is good.

Solid game, already put in 5-6 hours. Be warned though, your units still get caught up on one another A LOT and can take some really awkward routes. It can be extremely frustrating when they start running into each other in the middle of battle. Another annoyance is frame rate drops zoomed out with several units/buildings on the screen at once. Must need more polish... as my 1080 shouldn't be struggling (even in 4K).

Also, manually searching for lobbies is a little outdated. No matchmaking in multiplayer.

Still, you can't beat the price. ~$20 for this game is a steal. Great for newcomers to the series and those familiar with AoE. With that said, AoE II HD is still the better "remake" and original IMO. More civilizations, units, map variety, etc.

If you're a fan of AoE, check out Rise of Nations: Extended Edition on Steam. Game flew under the radar but is one of the BEST RTS games available. Plays very similar to AoE.

Hope this helps someone! Smilie

Really? You said that knowing full well this is basically the beginning of the year?

To play multiplayer over LAN do you need 2 copies or is it possible to use only one? Is another way possible: this game and old edition of the game on a CD for LAN multiplayer?

Remastered and remade version of the original Age of Empires and its Rise of Rome expansion pack. Only through MS Store and only for Win10, with supposedly possible multiplayer via Xbox Live.

They didn't. It was Age of Empires II: HD Edition via Steam. This one is fresh remaster.

I hope this comes to Steam. The Windows 10 store sucks as do their sales.

$18 for a twenty year old game? WTF. In what universe would this be a good deal? It will be less than $5 by the end of the year.
