, I've been asked to make home made egg nog again this year. Meanwhile, I have all those Organic Valley q's that I could use for free egg nog. I really considered trying to pass it off as home made, but it wouldn't work...so I am in the kitchen today making egg nog Frown I hope someone brings lots of bourbon drool

Teehee If it makes you feel better, the temp has dropped drastically this evening, it's now cool and windy, with a high of 40 something tomorrow. I know that sounds like a heat wave for most of you, but it's half of what it was today Crazy

homemade egg nog is really easy. I use the 'cooked' method, just because I don't like the idea of raw eggs. Basically, I heat 2 cups milk, 2 cups cream, 1 tsp fresh ground nutmeg until just before boil. In another bowl, with blender on high, I whip 6 egg yolks and 1/3 cup sugar until the yolks get pale. Then I take a little of the hot milk and drizzle into the eggs while whisking (tempering, so the eggs don't scramble). Once I've tempered the eggs, I pour it all back into the milk and bring it to just before a boil...then I cool it down, put it in a punch bowl and float vanilla ice cream in it (and bourbon too, of course). I take about 3 sips, because anymore than that, and I am in serious pain for the rest of the day.....it is very rich.

I love the Organic Valley egg nog. I take a scoop of vanilla ice cream and pour some over it, and top with fresh grated nutmeg.......yummy

In fact, I am loving that q (if only it scanned)..luckily Publix takes it anyway, so I have been able to get milk, nog, butter and sour cream...all the pricey things I need for holiday baking...now, If I can find the cheese.

Columbia was good. One store the q's weirded out, but otherwise great. I liked the store on Garner's Ferry. We don't have Starbucks in our stores, so it was a treat to see something different.

Yeah, we're here until Tuesday. I'm actually looking forward to heading home to some cooler weather in a few days. 82 is fun, but it just doesn't feel like Christmas.

I know what that's like too - today is less than 1/2 of what it was yesterday too... well, WAY less than 1/2 of what it was yesterday... maybe 100% less than it was yesterday Bigeye

Days like today are why I like snow so much - as much of a p.i.t.a. snow can be, if it's snowing, it can't be this cold!!! shake head It's supposed to be this cold again tomorrow but then snow on Tuesday will make it warmer (it's all relative)!

I'm glad it's warm someplace though - so what do you do when it turns 40 degrees. Do you have a winter coat? It seems like it's cold everywhere right now; relatively speaking, that is.

Oh yeah, it can get cold here. Especially in Jan/Feb. Plus, we are on the ocean, so it's a damp cold and usually windy. Nothing like the bone chilling cold in Alaska, but definitely you need a coat.

It was getting toasty warm in here, at home. Never got out the door to shop.

Dear dear son changed the temp of the thermostat from 72 to 85.. He said he was getting too cold. Should of had him go shopping. Maybe tomorrow. He has been talking to the same girl since 3. 5 and a half hours later.

Holiday Hugs! I tried eveything w the OV q. The only way I get it to scan is to print it on a high quality color laser printer.. dpi 2400 x 600 is what mine is.. sorry.I tried all papers, setting etc w/my inkjets to no avail. Using a color laser Brother HL 4040 cn and any paper... cardstock, glossy, semi glossy 32 lb Hammermill etc and cheap paper all scanned fine .I bet the black and white lasers would make a scannable one too but noone here takes blk/white qs.. No inkjet version or machine has worked for anyone I know. This is opposite for the TGIF 4 pp that only scans if one uses inkjet. The barcodes a tight one. Kroger did manually enter it for me prior to my color laser version. I have not found any meat items here sad to say.. to get w/it. The OJ , milk , eggnog, eggs and cheeses are sold here at Publix,Whole Foods, Kroger and some health food stores. HTH>
